well, i gotta agree with you on this one- i'm a big ole liberal democrat, but mckinney is wrong as rain. if democrats weren't so politically self-destructive they would say so clearly. mckinney's problem isn't that she's black, it is that she has a major attitude problem and feels entitled to better treatment than average americans.

she should never have slapped the officer, she should have stopped when he asked her to, and if she had a problem with it she could have raised the issue in a civilized and appropriate manner- not by using physical violence.

given the same circumstances i cannot imagine a white male congressman slapping a black capitol policeman and then expecting anything except major political fallout in response.

it is absurd, and it demeans the process and belittles the millions of black people in this country who aren't members of congress, are powerless, and are true victims of profiling. she hurts the process, she hurts real victims in the same way that a false rape accusation hurts real rape victims.

it is a rarity, but i agree on this one.

I say that ALL Congress members submit themselves to a new a rule and that all Congress members must walk through metal detectors just like everybody else. Call it the "McKinney Passage Rule." That way, none of this silliness will ever happen again where a Capitol police officer must be forced to run after loose ends.

Just watch - 20 years later, our children will be reading a mandatory piece in History 101, "McKinney's brave struggle against the white fascists..."

LOL @ Wiggums' comment!

Even Dems aren't happy with McKinney saying it's a "distraction"

I wasn't aware she slapped him. I thought she punched him with her cell phone...and if I did that to a cop, I'd be arrested too! Why is she different? And do I get the "get out of jail card free" because I'm white?

She sure surrounded herself with "Hollywood Supporters" known for violent movies when she made her "speech". Note: It wasn't an apology!

Patrick McHenry, who at 30 is the youngest member of Congress, said he is routinely stopped by Capitol Police and asked for identification.

"When I'm not wearing my pin, I am always stopped," McHenry said in a telephone interview. "I accept that as a due course of security."

A no brainer. Charge McKinney with a felony for assaulting a Capitol police.
