When we were kids and got bored on a summer night, we'd go outside and turn on the porch light. And defend it against incoming bugs with our ping-pong paddles.

We have been enjoying an unual number of fireflies this year. They appear just at dusk and light up our back yard. We haven't seen as many since it has turned hot but last night, there was one in the garage.

I love watching those big ol' beetles, they crack me up. Smack, fall down, take 10 minutes to roll over so they can fly and then smack again.
