As far as the heat goes, rent out your house and head for the mountains. You can take your work anywhere so why stay in the triple didgets.
Your points are absolutely valid, but the heat's probably making you especially cranky. Come visit us in the cool northeast. You can vent and drink and you'll feel much better.
The heat was my excuse to put up a Socialist blog post. I'm fine. 
It's only 94 degrees at 8 PM.

Just thought I would let you know that I'm headed off to the mountains of West Virginia tomorrow and the forecast high temps for the next week are in the low 70's with around 50 at night. Going to be so nice.

Waaaaaah...I hate the heat, too. I have reverse SADD: when it's screamingly bright and sunny outside, I feel lower than a ratsnake's belly.
It is to suck, in other words.
And the centeredness of our centrist Prez is starting to piss me off, too. He'd better keep pushing for the public option, that's all I can say. Bah, grrrrr, meh.
How about we stop those wasteful wars, eh? Isn't it about time to pull the plug?
Yep, if they are looking for "a few billion" saved here and there to scrape together for health care, that would be a bonanza. Too bad a trillion or two is already spent.
