This is what happens when the change agent guy surrounds himself with folks who have no skin in the change.

It's also what happens when you move into a culture (Washington DC and all the village people who go with it) who spend all their time talking to each other and fail to listen to the "regular folks".

I wanted us to go into Afghanistan, get Bin Laden and get the hell out. 7 years later, WTF?

Exactly. In an ideal world, this would have been a 3 month ordeal. But we do not live in an ideal world. Not that I need to remind you of that fact.
