Would Jesus pull a trigger?
He would be triggered by the very thought.

Would Jesus pull a trigger
I have it on good authority that Jesus knew very well how to stimulate a trigger.

[Trigger warning for uptight assholes]
I think the concept of "triggering" is fucking ridiculous pop-psych nonsense. Wait, you mean sometimes, when you read about something, it brings back bad memories? Really? Because that never happens to those of us who have Privilege. Get a grip.

When I was a wee lad, my babysitter cheated while playing the board game, Life. I marched into my aunt's bedroom and grabbed her 38 Special. All good baptists keep a revolver on the nightstand. Thankfully no one was harmed except my ass. Do we still discipline children? I forget.
I despise all guns, but I ain't triggered by a mention.

"We were forgetting about Eeyore."
That triggered me to tell you all "don't blame me if it rains".

To answer your dead-serious thing, I psyche myself up but a lot of the stuff with a "trigger warning" is just silly--even as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and 2 late-teen rapes, some of the stuff with the warnings is just...tapioca. After what I've lived through and survived I'm supposed to be upset about mention of some asshole Baptist preacher dying wearing two wet suits with a dildo up his ass? I don't think so. What I think? If people are being triggered so easily, they're avoiding dealing with whatever it is and are recruiting enablers to help them live in denial about it. But, that's just my opinion.

I was robbed at gunpoint a few years back. The guy put a gun to my left eye and screamed and spit in my face.
The words, "trigger" "gun" -- "put a gun to my head" -- whatever -- do not "trigger" me. But, a weird looking guy (whose "weirdness" can only be figured out by the knot in my stomach and my sweaty palms when I see him) who walks into a convenience store after I do, or the young guy who is wearing a sweatshirt with the hood up are my triggers.
To your question, I can't imagine, if were really triggered by words -- by reading a story -- that I could "psyche myself up" to WANT to read it. If what happens while reading feels anything like what happens to me when I see those guys I described above, I'd continually be a mess.
I don't intentionally put myself with guys who feel like they're terrorizing me.

The way I figure it, if I see a post about a potentially triggering topic, and I read it anyway, any triggering that happens is my responsibility. Nobody's making me click links, and nobody's shoving these posts in my face.
For some reason, though, it took me a while to really get that. I don't know why it's so hard to get.

What they should have had was a trigger warning for talking about tits on a 9 year old - and a bullshit warning for the subsequent follow up.

I was far more disturbed by that (and the subsequent denial on the bloggers parts) than by Jesus and his guns.

Thank you for your candor. This is shocking and yet, so common. I am just shocked and disturbed at this.
And blue girl, you too!
It makes me ashamed for the animals who call themselves human.

I've dealt with it, Kona, and that allows me to be candid about it. It happened.
Perhaps it's cruel of me, in a way, to be so matter-of-fact about it. It really does make others uncomfortable. I'm sorry if it upset you.

Re trigger warnings, I always look ahead just enough to see exactly what the subject is. If it's animal cruelty, which I know I can't take, I don't continue reading. Virtually anything else I can stomach.

If I have gun-related issues, which I sorta do, the very phrase "trigger warning" is a trigger.
