Just reading this entry the only one I have a real issue with is comparing Ford Explorers to 10,000 deaths a year.

That comment is rather prejudicial and I would assume based no where in fact or logic.

But to answer your question, in the overwhelming majority of criminal cases the answer is a resounding NO.

While I will never be accused of being a friend of the Plaintiff's bar... the fact is that without lawsuits like this Ford would still be using defective tires and still be using a Ford Explorer design that was too top heavy. Hell, the Pinto would sitll have a rear gas tank outside the frame. So I am much more "Liberal" with my thinking in these cases. To overturn this verdict doesn't pass the smell test.
