Do I even need to say?
Your brother sounds like a standup fellow.

Yes, Tim, he's a good sort. If completely irrational about his choice of catcher. But then, he's not in it for the thighs. Also, he never tires of telling me that Francona should have put Belli in during Game 5 of the ALCS or, as we've taken to calling it, "The Never-Ending Varitek Pick Up The Fucking Passed Ball A-Thon."

I don't quite know who to root for here. I have a good amount of love for both Kristen and the Tek, but the Brother Merrill is a hottie, and if loving the Mirabelli would curry some favor I may join in the fray. Oh hell. With that family, I'm like a liberal arts major at NASA. I just drink my beer and look interested.

If I may do my impression of a conversation between Amy and my dad:
The Rick: AMY! YOU MUST HAVE AN OPINION ON THIS! WHO'S THE BETTER LEAD OFF HITTER? (my dad is loud, hence the capitals to approximate yelling).
Amy: (sips beer nervously), Um, I like Johnny Damon.
The Rick: WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS NEW RULE IN THE NFL OF NO CONTACT AFTER FIVE YARDS?
Amy: I like Johnny Damon.
The Rick: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TEDY BRUSCHI SITUATION?
Amy: (glances around) I like Tedy Bruschi...and also Johnny Damon.
Then me, my dad, and my brother attempt to talk over each other and call each other assholes. It's love, this family.

Okay so, if families and their relationship with sports is like school, my upbringing is the short bus. Kristen's family is like MENSA or TAG (Talented and Gifted). And, yeah, the Rick is disappointed in my lack of knowledge about the rules and stuff. But we agree on laughing our asses off at Randy Johnson making a bird explode.

That's it, I'm giving you different names. Amy in the South, you are Tim Wakefield. Amy who's sitting four feet to my left, you are Derj. I deem it so. This is getting too damn confusing. Especially since both of y'all are hot for my little bro. (Ew.)

I don't know if I'm *hot* for your little brother. Lukewarm? He may not be geeky/old enough for me.

I can't help it if Tim Wakefield thinks it is funny to pretend he writes at my site.
And I'm only 20, so it's okay if I think your brother is cute.

Did anyone see Dougie's first double in that game? Matsui hurls the ball in quickly from left field, and the second baseman turns to tag Mirabelli, only Mirabelli isn't there - he's slid to the outfield side of second, extending his leg, but as the tag comes in he pulls his leg back, slides around the glove and plonks his hand down on the bag - safe! It was like some great conjuring trick. "Now batting for the Red Sox: The Marvelous Magical Mirabelli"...

Didn't see it, Iain, but that is fantastical. The most common comment when my bro and I are watching Dougie truck around the bases is: "From this angle, you can't even see the piano he's lugging behind him." We tease because we love. But I am totally calling him The Marvelous Magical Mirabelli from now on.

Bwah! I love that. Also, I'm a 'Tek girl, myself, but I do love Dougie. And Iain's right -- that first slide was *great.* They showed one angle where you could see Dougie give a gleeful little shout when he got called safe. Heh.
Catchers are so hot.
Cheers,
