Boston (AP): The Boston Red Sox today announced a bizarre free agent signing. Acting General Manager Bill James has announced that they have introduced a new initiative in the city/team synergy and have inked relief ace Billy Wagner. As a new closer for the Boston Bruins. "We feel we have addressed a glaring weakness in the totality of the Boston sports Universe, and that this should supply the needed solution. Wagner is a proven veteran and a fine athlete, and should mesh well with his new teammates. I understand he even took a little French in High School."
Wagner's agent said he will be reporting to Providence, RI tomorrow. "I guess there's something to do with learning to skate, we'll see what's involved when we get there," he said in a brief phone interview.
I've been thinking that the offensive game plan that they had for the Colts may have been na example of how things are different without Charlie Weis.
I wonder if Charlie, knowing how Tom has torched the Colts badly in the past, and knowing that the weakness of the defense was going to require the Pats to score many points, would have opted to stretch the field with the speedy guys like Bethel and Dwight and generally be aggressive about going long.
That would have opened up more chances for the Colts pass rush, and it would have worked against the idea of long, time-consuming drives to keep the Colts offense off the field, but it also might have given the Pats a chance to keep up in a points race.

First off, I hope you find your Brady hat.
With that said, am I missing something, or am I the only Sox fan alive who has no idea what their plans are? I'd like to see a GM in place (where exactly is Theo?) so we can start formulating our 2006 Sox squad. I have my wish- list for 2006, but I'd like to see where it actually ranks. With that said, I am not necessarily panicking because I think we'll be OK, but WTF...?
