Well, as I posted on the messageboard on 11-9 re: the return of Lajoie:
"I saw that Steve. And I breathed a small sigh of relief. I'm not actually sure how important he is, but the fact that they convinced someone to come back gives me this small, irrational flicker of hope."
So, that was about 2.5 months ago. I'm going to announce myself the winner.

I've often said that 'you can't have peaks without the valleys inbetween', and here's hoping that this is the beginning of the climb up the next peak. Having the last of the Pats great streaks ended, seeing Troy and Tom, among others, be the ones to blow the big plays; having a hockey team shooting for the first pick in the draft, after dumping the guy they got the last time they tanked that badly, well, I won't go on any further except to point out that I could.
Time for the good news to start again. You're right, Raymond for Head Coach, or whatever we can talk him into. Frankly I'd love to see Dennis Leary as GM. Just imagine the press conferences; it would make the Tuna seem like a trip down Sesame Street.
At any rate; Hooray!!!

Uh Oh -- The CHB already (1am) has copy on Boston.com. It's not very flattering to the boy wonder. Can we expect another hangover regrets come sun up?
Saturday nite's loss has me back in my "waiting for the other shoe to drop" mode again. I thought I shook this in Oct 2004...

This is why I don't read CHB's columns. The man hates sports. He has since 1976 or thereabouts and he's spent every day since then trying to get everyone else to hate them too. He's a hack who thrives on sour grapes. And as for the heresay and backbiting and what not with this story? I don't care. I didn't care the first time. I just want a competant GM.

I am so confused and I smell like scallions. But that is not why I am confused. What the hell is going on over there? If the Red Sox were a boat, they'd be an ancient liferaft held together by chewing gum and inflatable kiddie-pool patches.

There's a reason CHB would be writing negative stuff about TE - his main ally in the BoSox front office, LL, will at best have a diminished role, or at worst be out of the team.
Where would he then get his "scoops" from?

Um... can I ask a question? And not be pelted with rotten tomatoes from the peanut gallery?
Why is Dan Shaugnessy CHB?

Amy,
Don't worry. I was going to ask the same question about CHB -- what does CHB mean?

As "2632" said - in 2000, Carl Everett, as ever charming, told Gordon Edes of the Globe, to get out of the Red Sox clubhouse and take his "curly-haired boyfriend" with him.

Well, his given acronym also lends itself well to "Curly Haired Bastard" and "Curly Haired Bitch"

Just trying to sell more of his books I'm sure. Go against the grain from what everyone else is thinking about the return of Theo. Maybe CHB needs to wear the Epstein gorilla suit...

I think Theo understands that LL needs to give final approval of any deal and expects that...I just think he wants to do all the work with his baseball guys and only give LL the final summary, not let LL get involved in the day to day stuff...
That's probably why writers don't seem to like this move...if Theo gets his way, they don't get the leaks...and that's exactly why I want Theo... I'd rather hear a day later about a good deal than hear a leak and have a deal screwed up.
