It was kind of like watching a car wreck. Poor guy, he looked completely lost out there-I think he wanted it to be over just as badly as we did-- so much so that he started to leave the field w/ only 2 outs.

Gravatar Oh dear - can we please have Dougie back so my family will have some peace !

Gravatar No one would be happier than me to hear that Doug and his rollie bag had been sighted at the San Diego airport, but just for now, let's put down our cyanide pens and see what happens.

Couple of points:
Wake rarely pitches well against the Rangers. He NEVER pitches well against the Rangers in Arlington. Mirabelli or no, Wake @ The Ballpark = painful viewing.

Bard's pre-Wake record of passed balls is VERY good, but he's going to need a few more baptisms of fire to earn his Knuckleball mojo. Hell, even Tek looks addled when he catches Wake because he doesn't do it consistently.

DON'T PANIC!

Gravatar Also, I've been told (by EEI) that even Dearest Dougie had 2 or 3 passed balls his first time out with Wake.

Just sayin.

Gravatar No one knows where a knuckleball will go. Period. Even Wakefield has admitted that himself.

Only five more months of speculation to go. Enjoy.

Gravatar It's not so much the unpredictability of the knuckleball. It's mostly just that I miss Dougie and that damn rolly bag.

Gravatar !!!!!!!!!

First glance at the photo? Before I read anything?!?! DUDE LOOKS LIKE KEVIN MILLAR IN THAT PHOTO.

that is all.

Gravatar Gordon Edes interviewed ex-catcher Jim Sunberg who said of the knuckleball: "You don't catch it, you sort of wrestle it to the ground and try to keep it in front of you."

If that's true, maybe they should get Stephen Neal from the Patriots to try out.

Gravatar 'Tis indeed Millaresque!

Gravatar All the awkward appearance of Millar, none of the ability to laugh and say that his own haircut makes him look like a sperm. Sigh.

Gravatar I was so inspired by that awful game that i wrote a poem about Dougie

Gravatar I was a little comforted to learn that Mirabelli once allowed four passed balls while catching Wake. But I was at the game and I was scared to death. I turned to my wife and said, "why would they lose Mirabelli if they were keeping Wakefield?" He looked sooo bad. And the scary part was, the pitched weren't dancing enough to keep Rangers hitters from killing them but they were dancing enough to keep Bard from catching them. That does not inspire confidence.
