Boy, do I love me some Josh Beckett. Yummy to look at AND he can pitch. Here's hoping the rest of the rotation steps up as well.

Anyone catch Paps comments about Beckett from today's globe online.... "He's trying to grow up. Put him in this locker room with a lot of respectable intellectual people like myself and he changes. I think he's benefited by sitting next to me all year. That's why we got him in this locker room. If I can help him in any way I can, then that's what I'm going to do."

Um, yeah. ok.
...Wonder if he was wearing pants during the interview.

But honestly, Beckett was absolutely on FIRE today. I was so happy. It was so low-stress I kind of missed the 4th-7th innings because I was so NOT on the edge of my seat.

I was a bit stressed out by the game in the early innings, but maybe that's because I'm down here in Atlanta watching all by my lonesome (except for Chet, Hazel, and The Honorable Oliver Walter Douglas, C.D. [Doctor of Coprophagy]). But I confess to switching back and forth between the game and "Pushing Daisies" after 8 o'clock. However, it did not escape my attention that the umpires decided several close calls in the Angels' favor, including calling Lugo out after that Jeter-style swipe tag by Orlando and some insane called third strikes that even the TBS announcers had to laugh at.
