This sock has got to be one of the most beautiful knitted items I have ever seen! The colors, the pattern, the workmanship!

I timed it this week: one heel flap= one day's travel to work (about 40mis each way on the train). one heel turn =a spot of evening tv. one gusset decrese section= one day's travel to work.
This surprised me- I've always thought of the gusset as taking a really long time, but now I see it takes just as long as a heel flap.

Oh duh...Knitty, of course. I even printed a copy out for myself in case I ever feel smart enough to try it.

I've been reading your blog for a while but have never commented before...but that sock is pulling me out of lurkerdom. It is just stunning. I know it's going to show up my complete sock-ly ignorance, but where is the pattern from? I know I've heard the name but I visit so many blogs, it could have been anywhere. (I'm off to Google search it. I'll be totally mortified if it turns out to be your won pattern and I've actually read about it here.)

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I'm going to print out this pattern and put it at the top of my list!

These are so gorgeous.

OH. MY. GOD. THAT. SOCK. IS. SO. AWESOME.

the pattern and yarn combination for this sock is divine!!! hurry up and finish them so we can all fall in love with your socks.

That sock is absolutely gorgeous - the colorway is so fantastic and so is the pattern. Great work done!

Your potetmus sock rocks. you convinced me i need to make these, soon! your flap-rambling really cracked me up!

When I get to the foot that seems to take forever for me. I don't know why really, it isn't as long as the leg. Those are fantastic by the way. I love the texture!

House guest? Really, you don't have to tidy up for me!!!!!!!!

That's one gorgeous sock. I just love the colors with the pattern.

i'm not usually in the habit of knitting socks that are as much work as this one, but it's so gorgeous that i might have to dig some koigu out of my stash and make the plunge!

I always try to take my heel flaps with me when I have something boring to do (doctor's office) and nothing else to knit. They seem to go faster that way.

love those socks. tell me.. how many pairs of hand-knitted socks do you keep in rotation? you have at least one pair of every day of the week right?

Wow the color looks different in this that the other one. But I still love it!

It's a lovely sock, Sisyphusian heel flap aside. I agree with you about the heel flap being the heel flap of the sock.

Wow! I love them. I have seen another pretty pair of Pomatomi or whatever at Pepperknit. Have fun with your guest!

that pattern is mesmerizing. and with the striping of the yarn, even more so. love it!

Wow....that looks soooo lovely! Lifts away my flu just looking at it.

Sassy! Glad you're knitting these--I had passed on them in Knitty but your pics made me take a second look.

Just think of it like speed skating, you've turned the final corner and you're heading down the straight to the finish line!!
PS Didn't the Poles look nice in their uniforms?

Sock looks fantastic! I always think the flap will take much longer than it does. It's strange. For me the gusset takes forever. Once I'm on the foot it's like I'm done!

Package out tomorrow - assuming we haven't been avalanched in by then.

clean scmlean....the sock looks fantastic. go and knit it some more i say

I can't wait to see these socks finished. I love the colors and the pattern is just amazing. It's like a little work of art for your feet.

Hope you feel better and have lots of fun with your guest. :D

but the pomatomawhateverthenameisagain sock is lovely. So you find the heel flap unterminating? I tend to hate the leg when doing reasonable sized socks and hat the foot when it is hubby socks because they are just so loooooong!
