I love Depeche Mode. I'll be seeing them (for the third? or fourth? time)at Coachella at the end of April. I cannot wait to see Martin Gore. Yum.

Totally enjoying your blog - i am an avid sockknitter, so i am enjoying all your sock nightmares, i mean stories. As for DM - YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! love them! just got to see SOM play last week and DM is coming back to DC in May, cannot wait to see them after 11 years. so nee to replace those overwashed DM tshirts from the 80's

The sock looks gorgeous!
Thanks for the eighties flashback, sigh

Kris,

The combination of Jacqueline and shoes has recently proven hazardous. Fortunately the sock is too lovely to cover-up.

Don't I feel old! I LOVE DM! I remember listening People are People back in 1986 when I was 16! I also love Sisters of Mercy. I had the black hair and black clothes while in college, but was still considered punk. (goth wasn't 'discovered' yet! :o)

boy did you just bring up some memories for me! I went to that link (dm) and I am not sure but I think I have the 1st 5 mentioned! I always loved People are People and Master and Servant. I really really like the old stuff. I was more of a Cure fan oh and Simple Minds, The Smiths, The Damned, PIL...... Siouxsie..... I could go on! I dyed my hair black. And got RED docs. Maybe that's why we get on so well? Oh I had a dream about you too last night! Weird! I will tell you later....

I'm very excited, I'm going to a DM concert in Tallinn next week, Jey!! I still feel like crying every time I hear Enjoy the silence. I adore Depeche mode and that particular song was quoted to me by a very special person when I was very much in love with him, (later on I fell out of love quite painfully, though..)

I just might have to get that same, undoubtably overpriced T-shirt myself

Oh yeah, and your Pomatomus sock is just beautiful!

what a lovely glimpse into your memories, DM-style. DM makes me think of a boy from my youth.

those iridescent scales make me want to cast on!

Have you ever considered writing for Rolling Stone? Thanks for the excellent review of the DM concert which made me relive my own SOM, DM, and Falco moments. Oh yes, bring on the angst.

Ah, pooling on the foot - it haunts us all doesn't it. No mention of Jesus and the Mary Chain?

Oh, Violator. I called a radio station and begged for tickets because the concert at Dodger Stadium was on my 18th birthday. Of course they gave them to me and a friend and I saw the concert after some overpriced burgers at Hard Rock. Me love Dave.

Lovely sock. I don't find the pooling unpleasant at all. And there is the whole shoe thing as a fall back.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I only did LPs and they were destroyed during the flood in my mami's basement. You can survive nuclear winter in a Swiss basement, but you cannot keep your LPs there!

Jeannie!! I remember hearing that the first time on the radio early in the morning, waking up. Scared the shit out of me.

Come on! Everything was better in 1988!!

It looks awesome!

I am SO jealous of that t-shirt. I still remember all the words for enjoy the silence, although I don't feel the same pain anymore... you know, when you are 16 and life sucks. Oh my. Love your sock!
