This was exactly what I needed, thank you. Pain free auto run for the less than technically savvy boss givng a presentation on location. In my case, I burned it to a CD instead of a memory card/stick. The CD autoruns and you need need to do is click "run". Done. Thanks for this!

msvcr71.dll was not found
can't start the program
well I could start the program if I download msvcr71.dll and copy it to the target computers system32 folder, but that would defeat the purpose of this program, wouldn't it?

It seems that Microsoft stopped distributing some DLLs with more recent version of windows.
However there is no need to copy them to system32. You can either simply copy them to the programs directory or download the archive again. I added the dlls to the archive so that everything should now run smoothly.

Did only start a presentation if directory pptviewer (incl. the PP viewer files) was a subdirectory of the ARPreso directory (and not a sibling).
It was also possible to move the ARPreso directory to a different directory, e.g. I:A+WAutorunPresenterARPreso when you adapt the I:autorun.inf file like this:
[autorun]
action=Presentation Menu
open=A+WAutorunPresenterARPresoARPreso.exe
icon=A+WAutorunPresenterARPresoARPreso.exe,0
label=Presentation Menu on a Stick
shell=arpreso
shellarpreso=Presentation Menu
shellarpresocommand="
A+WAutorunPresenterARPresoARPreso.exe"

Hi Thomas,
thanks for the report. ARPreso.exe does indeed expect the pptviewer in the same directory. Seems I forgot to move the pptviewer dir when moving the ARPreso exe to the new dir. Just uploaded a new archive with the changed dir structure (and a new version as well).

I freely admit I am suck with this. I put the autorunpresenter files in the root directory of my stick. I put ppviewer.exe in ARPreso/pptviewer. That doesn't work...I can't work out what files to put where, or where to find them?
I am reasonable technical but I cannot figure this out :-((((

Basically the greatest thing ever. Tried for so long to install ppviewer onto a flash drive and get it to work. This is much better.

btw Polly, you need to install ppviewer on your comp, then go into program files/MSECache/ppviewer and then take the files from there into the thumb drive.

Brilliant. We use it to distribute demos both on stcks and CD.
Any chance of a 2007 version?

John,
there is no 2007 version at the moment. I do not have PPT2207 and so I have no chance to test it.
But rebuilding it with Installation Wizzard and Branding support is the next thing on my ToDo List.

I tried the 2007 viewer at the same location instead of 2003 viewer "ARPreso/pptviewer" and it worked fine from a CD-RW.
I think it will work from any drive whether a CD, DVD or stick.
