I'm so sorry. I can only imagine how frustrating this is for you. I really hope something comes along very soon.

I hear you. It is a frustrating marketplace for many.
Have you tried taking a midmorning or midafternoon walk each day? Or both? I'm suggesting this because I know tht I find that I feel better when I get out into the sun for a bit. Also, it is a fine (and free) way to clear your head when you get really down - a natural mood elevator.
Another thing you could do is to see if your town has any free programs at the local library or community center. Another way to get outside your own four walls and try to feel "normal".
PS - Your friends probably aren't dodging you at all, even if it feels that way. You just have more time on your hands right now than they do and you are trying to find ways to fill it.

Auntie, I want you to know that I think of you a lot and that I know you are smart and funny! Those recruiters must be on drugs or not very bright to not hire you right away! I miss you and can't wait to see you this weekend!
K, hang in there! We are here for you if and when you want to talk.
Hugs!

I'm in the same situation and I sympathize. I've asked God to send you the perfect job (and that you are the one hired to do it).
You're right, it's NOT vacation. Vacation is where you get to relax, let go of your worries, and have other people wait on you. It's a time of self-indulgence. Unemployment? So not that. Sure, I take advantage of the "free time" and try to enjoy doing things I never had time to do, but it's hard to take a road trip with no cash.
That's the same thing that has been bugging me about my family members, who've also thought I must be enjoying myself. I kept telling them I was busy. "You?!? Busy? LOL! You don't have a job, how can you be busy?" (Or my favorite, "You have nothing better to do, so...")
Then my sister retired.
The first thing she said was, "My God, I'm busier now than I was when I was working! How did I ever get anything done?"
Ahem.
(Hang in there. It's working out...)

I'm also unemployed--laid off almost three months ago. Very few jobs available in my current field, and most of the big players are downsizing. I've been fortunate enough to get career counseling as part of my severence and it's been a godsend. I'm also looking at a career change as well. If it's any comfort, the coaches and my fellow participants are starting to see a slight increase in the number of positions available. Please know that I've been keeping you in my prayers.

*hugs* I'm so sorry you're having such a time trying to find a new job. It's scary to think that someone with your experience and know-how can go jobless for so long. I really hope things look up soon!
I'm also sorry if it seems like I've been avoiding you! I really love hanging out with you and doing things - I've just been very scarce of car lately with Rick working so hard and late.

I feel your pain. Really. You have earned the right to be exhausted.
