Putting ads on your site is not selling out. Putting ads on your site for a product you don't approve of, now that would be selling out. I keep an eye on what BlogHer serves to my blog, so I can opt out of offending (to me) campaigns. I didn't follow your referral to the SavvySource widget placement, because I don't like Leapfrog's products (add that to the long list of producers whose products I don't like).
Point being, as long as you're true to yourself, there ain't nothing wrong with getting a check every month.
