the embargo just provided fidel with an excuse. cuba had no problem getting goods from rest of world including american sourced goods via panama and mexico (computers, etc).
Well the embargo does affect Cuba some but yes, it is used more as an excuse for the poor conditions by Fidel. Thus supporting the argument that the embargo should be done away with (at least to some degree).
