Please don't type in all CAPS, it's the equivalent to YELLING, let alone hard to read, thank you.

Kurdo,

Anfal was a crime against humanity. Don't wait for guarantees from anybody. Only Kurds can guarantee to protect themselves from future atrocities by charting wisely their way in the politics of Iraq and the region.

While remembering and condeming what Saddam has done to the Kurds, the Kurds should always pay attention to guarantee the rights of the smaller minorities that live in Kurdistan and protect their rights as your own. Treat others as you want others to treat you .. and not any thing less.

May those who died during the Anfal genocidal campaign, Kurds, Assyrians, Yezidies and Turkmans rest in peace.

I fully understand why Kurds do not want to live with the Arabs. Tragic events like this and Halabja will be repeated if Kurds were not careful in choosing how they want to live.

I hope that Kurds will be independent one day. The sooner the better.

regards kurdo

You should look at this website, it's called "The Kurd Sellout Watch", and it chronicles activities of the US government vis a vis the Kurds.

Whoops, here it is:

Gravatar let's just put it this way Kurdo:
While there are US troops in Iraq, there had BETTER not be even a THOUGHT of committing another Anfal. It wasn't just the civilians of Al-Halabja that were wronged, it was all of kurdistan, and an insult to humanity. there is never a justification for senseless murder.

being one of the few in the US who knows much about this subject, i will do what i do every year- ill light a candle until it completely burns out, and share in the silence of the night. its quite peaceful, but there can't be anything one individual can do to erase the pain and horrors of Anfal.

best of regards-

Gravatar I can tell you this: a disengagement of the Kurds from the rest of its neighbors will definitely cause another Anfal and Halabja. Old jealousies and sectarian issues will be magnafied until they spill over into violence. The only way to prevent it is for all parties to be actively engaged with each other in a responsible and respectful manner. You shouldn't always be looking to others to magically guaranee something like this. You have to take just as much responsibility for it on yourself as well.

G

Gravatar How appropriate that one chapter of the Koran be titled "Spoils of War". Does that indicate anything at all to you, Kurdo?

Gravatar G you seem to be an Arab or a Turkish national.

How can you blame Kurds for atrocities such as Anfal and Halabja ?

I dont' see the Kurds asking much from their self-determination-rights.

The Iraqis have killed hundreds of thousands of civilans and you ask Kurds to take responsibility ? WHat a joke.. u kill me and I am responsible.... shame on you... we are talking about innocent civilians not armies or military figures.

Gravatar Kurdo take my word. Anfal will be repeated if you be part of Iraq. There are now indications from the Iraqi Govering Council that they are anti-Kurdish aspirations.

Take my word and work for independence to finish your nation's suffering.

Gravatar John, anon-
do you even think for a minute that the US military would hesitate for a minute to destroy anyone who tried to kill kurds for the sake of them being kurds? We just destroyed the last dictator that did that, and now that we have our foot in the region, any large scale attack or attempt at genocide will be met with bloody vengeance

Gravatar Americans, like me, know very little of Anfal because of the media blackout on such matters. We call the media the fifth estate for a reason, because even now as revolt occurs and lives are lost today in embattled Haiti, the media only gluts us with foolish stories as, I soppose, any true opiate would.
When genocide struck Rwanda in the 1990's, and slaughtered just under a million in approximately 100 days with machette and bludgeon, I heard very little. In Korea today none of us could imagine the horrors occuring... but people starved to the point of cannibalism I have heard whispers of. The best thing you can do for the victims of Anfal and of this world is to be as truthful as you can be.

Gravatar I am a regular participant at an Iraqi website and to be honest with you , they don't show good intentions towards Kurds..

to say that genocides against Kurds will not be repeated is not known...

perhaps if u keep away from Iraq u might be safer.

Gravatar Actually, if you did have the northern oil fields under your control and could demonstrate the peshmerga's ability to protect them and the pipelines from sabotage, and agreed to let an American oil company in, you just might get the present U.S. government's blessing for independence.

Gravatar As you mentioned earlier, Turkey could not invade and remain on the short list for EU membership. In addition to the above, if you also offered the US long term military basing rights, that in addition to long term oil contracts, would make it hard for President Bush and his cronies to resist supporting an independent Kurdistan.

Gravatar AzRez...
It is not Kurds who are not helping... I myself would die to see a Turkish or Iraqi or any Arab or Iranian oil companies to work in Kurdistan..
Everyone would rather prefer American or European companies..

It is the Bush administration who are trying to abandon Kurds again under the name of (unity of Iraq)..

Gravatar Of course the real problem is that Turkey and Iran don't want to give up their Kurdish lands. By giving Iraqi Kurds a state legitimizes Turkey giving up a good chunk of its space. Whether or not it would serve justice, it is a difficult feat to accomplish, and might lead to more bloodshed similar to the stuff in Ireland.
As far as guaranteeing freedom in Iraq for the Kurds, it can't be guaranteed for anybody anywhere. At least in general in America, the belief is that you fight for freedom when oppressed, and behave peacefully when not, democratically forming a society dedicated to the rule of law, that looks down on corruption, and avoids violent solutions to problems.
I very much hope that whatever the goals in mind, the people of Iraq will work in a civil way to resolve their issues.

Cheers.

Gravatar I am so sorry. I wish I could share peace with all who just want to live love and be happy. What can stop violence? Mother Teresa? Ghandi? I am feeling at this moment that we could all use a big whooping by our Creator! And I am sure one day we will get it as I am sure it pains Him to see us spit on His Creation when we should be so Thankful!

Take time everyday to enjoy and celebrate the wonders of your Earth. This is where I find my peace.
