Those house prices are about 8 times higher than here in North East England, probably about twice an expensive town such as Cambridge.

Well, the property is cheap to us here in California and I don't live in San Francisco. 1000 sq m is like 11000 sq ft. My house is 240 meters squared and it was $450,000. The meat seems like a bargain though. Of course, the wages are most likely much less right? I guess only really rich people will live there, kind of like San Francisco and Beverly Hills.

It's economics, people are willing to invest money in those areas. I also read a report the investment through out the middle east has substantially increased. In a free market that is a good thing. I hope everything works out for all the good people in Iraq.

Damn! If we all knew that, we could have made some money with land. It seems that something similar is happening in Baghdad and Basra. In Basra, it seems that Kuwaitis and Iranians are buying from land to orchards and palm tree groves.
A house for 2 M is cheap , Kurdistan is a jewel of the world,
