A very interesting question. Well, I doubt that. I am sad to say this but there are currently some measures by the PUK & the KDP to insure that they will win the Kurdistan elections as well.
For example, in some smaller cities they have taken a register of the people and who they vote for.
As you might know, the PUK and the KDP are the governments themselves, and they have spread rumours that people who might vote against them will be jobless.
But middle class citizens are fed up with them. I suggest that the independents might win %10 only. Unfortunately !

You have to vote your conscience in my humble opinion.
For example - Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania had a close win against Toomey in the primaries. I can't stand Specter and voted against him. I knew he would win but I voted against him anyway. It was very close and I told my husband - do you think the guy will take a clue?? My husband said no - he won't. Even if my husband is correct I do not think my vote is 'wasted' - it is still my voice even if it was a minority.

Yes, however we kurds do not have the same luxury as you americans in voting in 'democratic' elections because our nation has been dismanteled and forcibly reattached to 4 different countries. Unlike you our nation is truely faced with annihalation and spliting our vote could in the longterm destroy our childrens future. Our choice is'nt between Specter and toomey but between fascist arabs and a kurdish future.
