There have been a massive crackdown on Kurdish journalists in Kurdistan. I bet these independent Kurdish websites will also be attacked very soon by Barzani and Talabani.

This is the same in Egypt where I live. Independent media is always a danger to the government. It is sad that to see that in Iraqi Kurdistan this problem exists. You guys are the only hope for a democratic and free Iraq.

You are making adverts for the same site. How can you DECIDE if it's credible or not?
I am not saying they are not credible.. BUT.. you obviously can't do that.

Kurdo -- any comments on the upcoming elections ? if the Kurdish parties did indeed indulge in ballot stuffing last time (as you say), would he presence of more Western journalists stop them ?

Yes that is a very good idea. More western journalists is a great idea. I will post about this topic in the coming few days.
Vladimirpoetin
I am not making adverts for any websites, I am just recommending the website because it is the best Kurdish English news website at the moment. They have taken over KurdishMedia and even Peyamner's English section recently.
They are credible because I read the same stories in the independent Kurdish newspapers.

I hate theKurdistani so much that I am a member of it and sometimes do reports for them or help them with news.
If you don't believe me look it up.

And agree with you Kurdo they are the best. But I am not independent then, because I help them. Another one you could include into your blog is Hewler Globe. They are also doing nice reports --> http://www.hewlerglobe.net/
But I also write for them. So I can't be independent.

Well, unfortunately history repeats itself yet again. The Yanks are there purely for the Oil / strategic interests. They couldn't give a rat's ass about the Kurds / Democracy / Freedom.
What you will have in the horizon is a regime no better off than Satan's. Think Sharia (Iranian-style) law, pan-Arabism coming to the fore yet again (minorities are ethnically-cleansed in Iran, one of the most racist countries on this planet), no freedom and so forth. This is democracy Yank-style.
I am very pessimistic not only for Kurds and their legitimate demand for a homeland but for the future of whole generations to come. They are well and truly in the Shit (excuse the pun).

A plea from a worried but hopeful Kurd
I find it totally inconceivable that any self respecting Kurd would shun the democracy we have built in Iraqi Kurdistan over the last fifteen years, may I just remind those individuals that it came about with the loss of 182,000 thousand Kurdish villagers, the destruction of 3827 thousand villages, 1,754 Schools, 2,450 Mosques, 270 Hospitals. I understand that some sections of Kurdish society feel alienated at the present moment with the lack of water, oil, electricity and the apparent continuation of corruption among some officials, but this does not constitute a reason to throw away the strong position we have earned at he bargaining table in the state of Iraq. This is a critical juncture for the Kurdish people of Iraq, the choice now is weather we have a say and a stake in the new government or whether we become subordinate to it in everyway imaginable, this is a hard reality we will have to face if we do not turn out in numbers and vote for the only real option the Kurdistan Alliance 730. We Kurds have everything to lose and still much to gain, we so far have had the upper hand because our strong turnout in the January 30th elections. There are forces at work in and around Iraq which would absolutely love us not to turn out and vote because it would seriously weaken our position to the point that they could force there will upon us on the issues that we hold true to our hearts such as Kirkuk. And as Kurds we owe it to the mothers of those martyrs, who will continue to morn for all eternity and their fathers who have an empty hole in there hearts left by their young courageous sons who bloodied the Kurdish mountains fighting for the freedoms which we now take for granted.
And also please consider how lucky we really and let us look at our Kurdish brothers in Turkey, Iran and Syria and ask them which situation they would prefer, some corruption and temporary shortages of water, oil and electricity or a free Kurdistan like the one we live in . And I think we all know the answer to that question.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my article.

While I agree that Kurdistan Observer is reliable and pretty awesome at that, I have to disagree with you on The Kurdistani, I have seen some pretty weord stuff published on that site, all in all, there needs to be more reliable Kurdish sources and the one I have always urged people to go to is Kurdish Media, www.kurdishmedia.com

The Kurdistani are depending on independent sources like Radio Nawa and Hawlati and other Kurdish media outlets.
KurdishMedia are a bunch of lazy guys and all they do is copy paste of AFP/Reuters/ etc articles.
KurdishMedia can change its name to "News Aggregator" rather than a news agency.
The Kurdistani is a news agency becuase they write their own news.
KurdishMedia just steals news...

i agree with rizgar...
i really enjoyed kurdistani today because they were updating every hour with the latest news about the iraqi electoins..
kurdishmedia is too boring now...all they do is loooooooooooong articles which no one reads, and all the articles praises the kurdish leadership.
i do not want to read what Talabani and Barzani want me to read.
i want to read what really happens...that is why I read kurdistani because they write what really happens.. I give them 10 out of 10

Rojeen thanks for backing me up on that one. I just did a little search and found that Vahal is part of KurdishMedia LMAO...
I always understand that competition is a necessity in order to improve services, but Kak Vahal instead of attacking another website without any proofs, you better write up some articles for KurdishMedia. Because seriously you guys are just getting boring. I mean for crying out loud's sake what proofs do you have that Kurdistani is not trustworthy ?
Hang on a minute, I forgot that you are a member of Kurdistani's rival LMAO

i agree kurdistani is an excellent website...a stunning 15 articles on the Iraqi elections today...stunning 15 articles ! I spent my whole evening reading http://www.thekurdistani.com
KurdishMedia on the other hand is getting old...KurdishMedia is dying...there was no coverage of the Iraqi elections, Iraqi referendum, etc etc etc events...They only copy paste some articles they find on the web and that is it...
sometimes they are just publishing Iraqi news....so i think IraqiMedia.com is a better name for them.

If it seemed that I was bashing the Kurdistani, then I apologize.
Do take care...

Believe me that: "ALL KURDS ARE TERRORIST". and if you see a daily life of them, it's really disgusting. They only work for PKK which is a terrorist group and they seem to be an innocent ethnic group, but they aren't. They are all "TERRORISTS".
