Gravatar OMG I would have been just as upset! Like you, I choose not to use my children's names or faces on my blog nor will I allow anyone to "tag" them on family facebook pictures. I do that for their safety and also because they are not old enough to make that choice yet.

I'm glad she took it down quickly.

Gravatar I've blown a gasket with folks too. There are two gals I know who don't think there is anything wrong with posting anyone's pictures and putting up names too. :p The one has taken down any info and now uses my DD's blog name. The other one I avoid her camera!
You know that I do post my child's picture, but that her real name and exact location are never shown. I suppose for the determined stalker it would be possible to hunt us down, but I'm going to just post the info to make it easy for them. I feel somewhat safer about this because I'm always with her. probably not very smart on my part.

There was a story not long ago that could have been fiction about a girl who had posted too much info about herself on the web. It turns out that her "stalker" was a police officer who did a scared straight kind of thing with her. But it could have just as easily have been a real story with a real wacko.

I think miss ballet lady needs an education on internet safety.

Gravatar Unfortunately, that just happen to be one that you found and were able to ask to be removed. If your daughter has friends in school with camera phones and are on Facebook or MySpace, chances are she's on their pages as well. In some cases, you will have no control over it.

Kids just don't get it. They don't understand how, what they put out there for the public to view, can be dangerous, it can also cost them jobs, college acceptances or promotions. Those ridiculous questionieres that kids love to fill out about themselves are so filled with questions that can easily help a creep figure out where kids hang out and in some cases, where they will be on a particular night. Kids love to spill out all the details about themselves thinking everyone is interested in knowing it.

If you don't already, do Google searches on your daughter's name. If someone posted something with her name attached, it may possibly come up.

Gravatar It's amazing how clueless ( read that stupid) most people are about how dangerous the internet really is. They just don't get it!
Listen up....never identify a picture of a child by real name, never identify a location or school or team you play for.

Most important, never put anyone's info out on the NET without their permission! That's not only tacky, it's extremely dangerous. Don't people realize how many crazies are out there? Don't they watch TV or read the newspapers??? IT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN TO YOU AND YOURS if you continue that kind of stupidity!
Wake up parents...use common sense!
