I understand the Church...they want to only pay for the director of music...not the dom & the bell lady. However, I totally understand your position too...it's your favorite choir.
It's so sweet how your choir wants to keep you.
Perhaps y'all could work on fundraiser concerts to help the Church afford to keep you on.
As frustrated as you must be, God will see you through this 'tribulation' and make it an experience to grow with...
All church fights are for the glory of God. Give her hell! (Or on the other hand, perhaps you might try trusting the Lord on this one.)
Ohhhhh boy. Ya know what I'd do? I'd pray! I disagree with Bob that all church fights are for the glory of God -- because MANY church fights are for for the wishes of MEN! (or women) But I agree strongly with him about TRUSTING the Lord on this one! HE definitely wants the BEST music played to His glory!
I am struggling similarly in the church circuit. We just got a Christian Ed director who is making a lot of changes that are difficult to live with. Now that we have bought real bells, I don't feel like I can up and change churches so we're in for the long haul now. I only pray it will get better.
Oh my, church music can be so brutal sometimes. ANd it should so be the opposite shouldn't it. I kind of fell into my choir director job when they fired the old director after a lot of very difficult times. It's taking a long time to get things back to normal.
I say that you should stand your ground. You worked hard to get to this place and they hired you to do it. You need to make sure the hiring committe (I know churches have a committee for everything) knows your feelings on the matter. Good luck and happy fighting!
Seriously?? oof. You show them how awesome you are. Also, I'd like everyone to know that LB is not tooting her own horn enough. She has lots and lots of qualifications for MANY things.
