Yeah, I don't think that would be too much to ask! Sheesh.

How "skanky" was that!! Here you go band!
Practice your heart out playing and marching, days, nights, and weekends to achieve perfection!
Win a coveted and prestigious award for your school, and your totally clueless School Board hands an unframed piece of paper to the Band Director! (Note, 2 months AFTER they won!)
Who are these people???

I can't say it any better than mom did.
Although I would zip off a letter to the clueless School Board telling them your and #1's thoughts on this so called award. *eyeroll*
I think the thing that got my goat the most was that it was on a school night, the kids got all dressed up (ignoring homework) for what???
The could have done better than a piece of paper from their printer. Next time just email it to them.

How much would it have cost to have printed out a nice certificate for each child - and for a few dollars more they could have framed the main certificate!
The kids were ripped off - mind you, Missee Bug, you be sure and tell the children that we all cheer them and we know how hard they worked to get such an accolade...

Uh yeah, I've been to those board meetings too where it's supposed to be an honor to shake a few big wig hands. I'm sure the kids were really impressed.
I agree with you...

It was as if the board was saying, "Look at what MY district can do," instead of "Look how well these kids did".
As a teacher in the district where the superintendent just got a DWI while out of town for a district-paid conference, but he refuses to step down...yeah, I'm not to thrilled with the people running the place.

Our kids were in band and actually I thought the school overdid the awards a bit. I had not objection to the paper certificates, plaques and trophies -- I just wish I had those endless hours back.
It was emotional blackmail. What caring parent would refuse to show up at any award ceremony? And once you're seated in the auditorium, who is going to walk out just because the bumbling band director can't figure out how to say in less that two hours: "Your kids are the best students I've ever had in my 20 years of teaching!"
