Gravatar Another reason why Bush is cut off from the American people and receiving terrible advice. Because he does not have access to the computational aspects of the internet and the blogosphere. His advisers are sub-par, no replacement at all.

Gravatar I agree, but still wonder how a president could NOT be cut off from the American people. The job has gotten too glorified.

Gravatar On point 4, what do you do if the government of Iraq (and possibly more importantly, the military of Iraq) don't accept the US's attempt to impose its authority and assume command?

Gravatar I don't think it's "if;" it's "when." The action wouldn't be along the lines of the Iraqi constitution; it would come instead from where the money comes from and where our attention goes. It is clearly the most difficult of the four steps, but who said war comes without diplomacy?

Gravatar who said war comes without diplomacy?
I guess if willing victory, denying reality, and ignoring suggestions from military leaders hasn't worked, then diplomacy might be considered a last resort by the Bush administration. We'll see. For them, diplomacy is the hail mary play that you only pull out when you're down by two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter.

Gravatar I said this before, Laer, his daughters and his family, if not himself or his advisers, can get in touch with the American people by reading and commenting on blogs. Technology is there to be used after all.

One of Bush's daughters did help do some campagning, so it is not as if they aren't interested in politics.

For some reason Americans love their football analogies. I, who've learned military science from the ground up starting with Art of War, never really saw the use of such comparisons.
