Heck of story, and a heck of post, Laer.
Unbelievable.
That's what "tolerance" and "diversity" will get ya these days.
The very idea just blows my mind.
I loved the "faith cafeteria" bit...
Very good post.

These people are barbaric, if it is their culture, it is barbaric and inferior...
absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
fathers may kill their daughters
if they feel dishonored
like when she dates the wrong boy
.

Christians pick and choose which parts of their religion they want to believe. The old testiment is just a s barbaric, ordering that you should kill your own brother if he holds another god to be true.
Of course there are bad christians too - you voted one as your president.
Reigioius intolerance does not cause wars - RELIGION causes wars.

Papa L: Best learn about your Christianity before you launch into it. Christ changed everything; while he didn't change a word of the O.T., he changed our relationship with God, which are spelled out in the N.T. There you'll read long sections dealing with the new relationship: How Christians should deal with the Jewish food restrictions, with circumcision, etc.
You're buying the old line about religion causing war. It does of course -- bin Laden fights in name of religion and too few Muslims stand up to him -- but atheistic despots like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot have killed many more in the name of power than have been killed in the name of religion.

Religious beliefs require human components and executors to create reality. God does not exactly require human components to enforce his will on reality.
When people say that religion causes war, what they really mean is that they don't know how to stop humans from killing each other so might as well not talk about it.

I would say this doesn't mean much. It is an amazing piece of news, like a dog walking on its hind legs. The wonder is not how well she does it, but is focused on that she can do it at all.
Not to pick on a religion, but Episcopals are a funny lot when it comes to religious fervor. How excited can you get when your church was founded with a king as its head, just so he could get a divorce and remarry someone he would behead a year later.......?
My guess is that she was spiritually activated for the first time at a Muslim service. Had she instead gone to a tent revival, she could have just as easily turned Baptist.......
