Al Gore, Al Gore...name strikes a bell! Vice President wasn't he under Bill Clinton? And creator of the Internet, as well as Father of Modern Climatology, Linguistics, and Cinematography? Related somehow to Gore Vidal? Lives in a 20 room mansion with 8 baths? Once tried to grow a beard? That guy?
If he really is using green tech in the house to lower the electrical usage what is he doing smelting aluminum? The idea of buying shares in something to lower your carbon footprint is wonderful, a bit like the rich paying the poor to take their place in the Civil War. Do as I say not as I do. Gore should have wind, solar, and geothermal if available to offset his total usage and offset the fuels he uses in his travels. But then religion does not require consistency.
Your problem is that you're attacking Gore for not doing something he's never advocated.
You think that Gore is saying we should all live like hermits and give up modern conveniences. But he's not.
He's saying we should get our governments to invest in alternative energy, and that we personally should do what we can to cut down on our carbon emissions.
Given that Gore is rich and lives in a big house, he does a lot to cut down on his carbon emissions (solar panels, carbon offsets).
Gore has been pretty clear that in order to fight global warming, we don't have to live like hermits, we don't have to ruin the economy, and we don't have to give up our luxuries and conveniences. So he doesn't advocate that for you, and he doesn't advocate it for himself.
Because you mistakenly think that fighting global warming means that we should all be poor, don't blame Gore for your hysterical misconceptions.

Well, obviously not. We all won't be poor, just the folks under the power of Gore and the elite environmentalism clique. Those will get the bucks and luxuries, rest of everyone else will get regulated by the government for their own good.
I also won't blame Al Gore if he gives me a cut of his investment portfolio, out of total profit.
