Fuckin' oath. Baby boomers:

1. Get income tax free from their superannuation returns, everyone else has to pay 30-40% on their income.

2. Own the lions share of property while everyone else has to rent or forced to take on 40 or 50 year loans.

3. Represent the vast cost of the medical system which is groaning under the strain.

4. Seek to have an environmental trading scheme which will only push up food prices, fuel prices and hit workers hardest.

Time for people who arent loaded with Super and housing assets to get a break in this country, not a kick in the guts.

Gravatar Wow. Well said, Anon 5:54! This is a defining moment for the Coalition. They either stand up to Garnaut and the socialist economic vandals, or a new third political force will come out of right field. If the Libs fold or dither, a political vacuum will form. Hopefully to be filled by someone a little more erudite than Pauline, but with the same passion and commitment.

Gravatar Does this mean the ALSF believes in climate change?

Gravatar Pensioner-hating fool 'anonymous' is living in dreamland. I've been paying tax for 46 years. I even paid tax on my super till this year. I have a home 'asset' even though the heater hasn't been on this winter yet. One day you'll be a pensioner too. It's not that much fun.

Gravatar Baby Boomer-hating fool 'anonymous' is living in cuckooland. I've been paying tax for 46 years. I even paid tax on my super till this year. I have a home 'asset' even though the heater hasn't been on this winter yet. One day you'll be a pensioner too. It's not that much fun...

Gravatar Anonymous, if you turn down the loud music and listen, you can hear people chopping down forests all over Brasil, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (among many other countries). Personally, although I am a baby boomer, I haven't chopped down a single tree, built a power station, ripped off water from the Murray, etc. Like you, I carbon pollute with my economical small car, use electricity and burn rubbish. But I don't want to be lectured by whining young liberals most of whom are far more priveleged now than I'll ever be,

Gravatar Any meeting of Young Libs is like watching a flock of galahs and cockatoos. Plenty of noise, feathers and squabbling, but very little action.

Gravatar Garnaut an economic vandal? What a catchy and truthful tag!

This is going to be a really big test for Rudd. If he's smart, he'll keep middle Australia on board by softening the impact of an emissions trading. That'll piss the lefties off - but they'll still vote Green anyway.

If he embraces an emissions trading scheme, he'll alienate middle Australia and the lefties will still vote Green anyway.

Or he can abandon an emissions trading scheme which will still keep middle Australia on board, and cause the lefties to stay with the Greens.

If he has a scheme that has a very light impact, then he'll find the optimal solution.

Your choice, Kevvy...

Gravatar Gee,

So the ALSF still cant see the evidence for global warming and the need to do something about it. If only they and their uber-patriotic mates had been as circumspect about WMD in Iran...

Still, it shouldn't surprise anyone that selective blindness results from the use of political blinkers.

As to Garnaut being an economic vandal, I don't recall such comments from the ultra-right when he was instrumental in initiating economic deregulation in the '80s.

Gravatar So do the dark side forces of the ALSF have a view about the economic cost of not acting on climate change?

Pack of neo-con (economic) illiterates.

Gravatar ... what about the cost of reacting to a knee-jerk theory?
