It should be noted that only 2 people from each branch get to vote from the local 60% contingent. Maybe 4 in the bigger branches. Unlike the ALP the Liberal Party doesn't have plebisites. This inevitably puts more power in the few as there isn't as many people for the power players to lobby. It leaves a lot less to chance.

Also worth noting is that the system of voting is exhaustive preferential hence if two people split the vote in half, ie Jason and Julian then when one of them gets knocked out there votes will inevitably go to the other. Hence if Tim Wilson gets more votes than one or both in the first count, chances are that he will be knocked out when either Jason's votes go to Julian or the other way around. Whilst the Ted forces have probably a third of the floor, the other two thirds will fall behind Jason or Julian in the final vote. No doubt it will be called the ABT faction. "Anyone But Tim."

Tim Wilson has zero chance, and the Sheezel/Aldworth dispute will be sorted out well before the preselection.
The branch list is very accurate.

I have been out of the Libs for nearly 5 years so all this stuff is a bit of a yawn. Don't know much about Higgins factionalism but Melbourne Ports FEC meetings was mostly pointless as they rarely wanted to discuss politics. When I won PA in 2002 I was suprised as some others as I did not lobby for the job and infact fell back to that nomination (PA) when the chariman (Mike Kabos) would not allow nominees to put their case for an executive position I wanted so I withdrew. As PA delegate I attended all meeting presented a written report and encouraged other to attend as guests each month. I did this job well as I did with other R&F stuff like leafleting, booth manning etc. Finally who would want to be a new candidiate for MP only to spend the next 10 year or more in opposition. Higgins deserves PM material but Aldworth or Scheezel are not that but neithor was Costello. He reached his glass ceiling as treasurer and at which he did a pretty good job.

Leo Lovius is "well respected". What the f...???
The only thing that Leo Lovius ever gave Treasury was introducing the cost saving of providing McDonalds cookies for morning tea instead of those expensive biscuits and cakes from The Commune.

NB: Anne-Maree O'Brien is of the catering fame and not related to Michael O'Brien. Working the Heyington branch shows where the Essendon born and bred girl's loyalties lie - around alma mater St Catherine's.

The same Ann-Maree O'Brien who, together with her family purchased $1k per head tix to the ALP shindig at the Grant Hyatt in 1999, which you also attended Andrew. I wonder what her boss would say!!!

The Mayne Report as a reference, you're kidding me, George.
Mayne also opined that I was one of his claimed best ever writers "Delia Delegate" and then rather quietly recanted when he realised that the writer was at places that were forbidden territory to nasty right wing bovver boys like myself. And she didn't seem to like such boys either. Mayne's medication is truly powerful.
Anyway, I'm loving Mayne's governance and investment related opinion giving atm, he could certainly help everyone build a small fortune by starting with a large one. He's working on a book apparently "Catching Knives - How I'll Bankrupt My One-Time Millionaire Family In This Bear Market".
Only kidding. That function was very good though, it was kind of like a surprise party because every one in business was bloody surprised Labor had won so they held a fundraiser to get the donations they would have got prior to the election if anyone had thought them a chance.
Patriots will be pleased to know, I didn't pay for my ticket. I was representing Schnorrer & Co.
If I'd known the half-starved Marfans sufferer Mayney was lurking out in the cold corridor, I would have been certain to invite him in for a port though.
Poor bloke. And I do mean that literally, in light of recent market events.
Game on.

Rumor has it that Jeff Kennett is being recruited for Higgins with a view of adding grunt to the Coalition front bench in Canberra. Kennett and Stockdale have woven their magic before!

My dear Fatty,
I am still awaiting a response from you about my proposal to have our own radio program to rival that of Alex Downer, to be called "The Very Long Lunch". I propose at least 5 - 6 hours per session, and at least 80% of it dedicated to discussing Human Rights, and what it is list to sleep on the floor of a hut owned by a Mongolian Peasant in downtown Beijing. What do you think?

My dear Fatty,
I have been impostored. Right there at 7:00pm, and again at 7:03pm. I am the real McPerton, and this is all a breach of my fundamental human rights. The real McPerton (ME) wants to know whether you are interested in "The Very Long Lunch" and could not care less about the likes of Tim Wilson or Kennet. Unless they have had their human rights breached and need a member of the human rights Bar to represent them.

The most important thing is to ensure that whoever is preselected for Higgins is committed to carrying on the Menzies-Holt-Gorton-Fraser-Peacock-(McPerton???)-
Dean Legacy. And the best way for them to do this is to tell the Electoral Commission they live in the area, but in actual fact, do not. That is the law of the jungle, and an example of mean-spirited conservatism,.

My Dear Fatty,
I am thrilled I must say that Dr Dean has seen it in his heart, and has applied the rules of logic to insert me into the Legacy. Now, we must convice the good doctor to include you, our once glorious leader, also in the Legacy. I think it is time to celebrate. Will you swing by my chambers tomorrow in your black CLK? And where shall we meet for our Very Long Lunch (soon to be the name of our radio program)?

I will pick you up at your Chambers at noon.
I suggest a curry tomorrow, how about Bhoj Docklands?

I told Jayne it was Malcolm.

Fatty Doyle's branch- also branch of Peter katsambanis, Narelle - wife of the weasel, and former Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party in the LC Andrea Coote and Michael O'Brien all belong to one branch that never meets, has not raised a red cent and despite not having meetings or meeting the constituional requirments, 104 turns a blind eye. No wonder Michael Kroger is lobbying for amalgamation of branches.

Kroger-Costello mate and Senator Ronaldson employee Ross Fox wants to be elected to the Liberal Party's administrative committee. He thinks he needs to be rewarded for running for a marginal Labor held Federal seat and then turning it into a safe ALP seat after he got a 7 % swing against him. And that is after 104 threw $300,000 at the seat for the 2007 campaign.
