What is this "Liberal Party" everyone keeps going on about?

I've heard that a number of senior members of the Admin Committee are considering resigning - not because they have had anything to do with the blog or otherwise been disloyal but because they are fed up being attacked by Baillieu and Troeth (senator & son) etc.
My source says all of the party VPs are spitting chips over Baillieu's handling of this - his statements are slurring them and other key supporters of Kemp , like the party's treasurer. The latter is said to have been trying to cool some of them down but they are all feeling very unloved by Ted and question whether their efforts to elect Ted are worth it. Indeed why would anyone do it?
Challenge if you must.......but do it NOW!

Every portfolio Terry has had? I think that would be just the one - Transport. Not exactly a tough area to score points against the government. Mulder is also ably assisted by a staff that is obsessed with transport. He has the authority on Victorian Public Transport working for him.

Admin members - most of you should resign unless Ted is replaced as leader. Ted has repeatedly made it clear that he doesn't want to work with you.
How can you continue if the parliamentary leader is so openly hostile to you and can't even offer any olive branches to you? He is incapable of winning loyalty and winning over converts.
No, Ted is so paranoid and rude it is now the Parliamentary Party's problem.
Let Ted find new VPs and a new Treasurer - his track record is such that he will struggle to fill the slots with credible candidates especially for Treasurer.
Resign - go - you will be called back again if there is a new leader. Even if you stay and work for Ted's election and he becomes Premier - will he thank you? You already know the answer to that.

He must be feeling pretty damm low at the moment - how can he restore Baillieu's credibility within the party let alone the public?

How can anyone BUILD A COMPETITIVE, VIABLE OPPOSITION out of these dregs? It's the old story of trying to turn sheep droppings into strawberry jam. But just a day or two later, he was out and about doing the things that voters didn't like - carping and criticising everything.

Dreamer - the short answer is no. It is the federal and state Libs who put us all in the shit by selling off all public assets. Even if labour wanted to sell off more (which it does) there's nothing left.

Come on....The State Debt in Victoria is 23 Billion! Kennett left Victoria with a surplus. The Labour Victorian Government have billions extra rolling in from GST, Payroll Tax, Land Tax and Stamp Duty! Where is this money going? It is being squandered.......
Victoria's Interest Bill is now 1.8 Billion per annum and there is no plan to pay back any of the deficit.
No wonder The Libs have to look elsewhere to pay off these debts....Labour cannot manage money....

I've given up a day at the Pokies to sit on this blog. I'm so grateful to Jeff Kennett for giving meaning to my life. The Pokies make me feel I'm contributing. Some people at the hotel are so nasty about Jeff - they say it's just another tax. But they are just addicts, not like me. Although I'd better get back soon.

I cannot stand miss-managament....that is why we need a Liberal Government to manage fiscal issues in Australia. Labour cannot handle an economy....this is shown in Victoria very clearly. $1.8 billion in interest alone....this money could be better spent on hospitals, roads etc.

I think that what Riddle means is that if you are a CEO on a million dollar salary that there are very low taxes in Australia.
Us PAYG contributors get to pay for everything - including the handouts for private schools!
EVERY school in Australia recieves government funding.
CEO's deserve their salaries. They look after huge enterprises and are responsible for companies.
State Government's give State Schools huge amounts of funding but nothing to private schools. Federal funding is given to Private Schools and is also given to State Schools.
Private Schools are principally funded by school fees drawn from students.
Maybe Iceberg, you should give up the "poor me" attitude and stop whinging.
Peter Costello's weapons of mass destruction turned out to be the GST, upping the petrol Excise, and having nothing to say about the multi-million dollar salaries of some CEOs. They were his type of people.

It's the workers who "look after huge enterprises". Unfortunately the responsibility for running companies is in the hands of those that have brought us all the crashes and the Sub-prime crisis that is by no means over yet.
Workers need to remember that their jobs are a privilege not a right.

Somebody: you are both right and wrong. We Aussies use the British spelling for labour and also colour and harbour etc with a "u". The UK Labour party uses the correct spelling too. However for some reason the Aussie Labour Party dropped the "u" like the Yanks. Just because they can't spell does not mean educated Aussies have to misspell the word. Perhaps labours Mar'n Ferg'son was tasked to write the word in some ALP document and he just misspelt it.
