So, we've got the cover up of financial records, sexual exploitation of young women and now blantant displays of race hatred.
Still the Liberal Party want to preselect this Powell guy!? Can't wait for the field day Labor is going to have in the Queensland parliament tommorow.
Good work Andrew on your amazing expose!

If the above incident you described occurred then Powell displayed poor judgement abd bd taste - but racism?
Humour may be of poor taste but to call someone a racist because of an attempt to take the piss at something like NUS (Liberal Students never take NUS seriously) is bit rich.
It seems that Powell is the victim of witch hunt, whereby if he has told joke that is disparaging of any ethnic grouping, or done something as outrageous as attending a strip club, that he is somehow inelligible to be an MP.
If the bar is to be set that low then I look forward to about 95% of all MPS from all parties resigning on mass.

At his very best Powell is a divisive figure with very bad judgment and even worse taste. Not to sort of person we need to unite the party and move ahead.

he is a pig no doubt. Senate material?? Fuck no.
Those stupid queensland libs will preselect him anyway. They can't do anything right

I was there and I can confirm it was indeed 'white power', and he didn't chant it just once, he repeated it with a silly smirk on his face.
And yes, he was booted out afterwards.

This is just not the sort of person we need in Parliament. Mark has no charisma. He has no brains - just parrots what he hears from Santo 'Brian Burke' Santorono. He looks like a buffoon and he talks like Homer Simpson.
No offence to Powell personally, but he is not senator material. No need to make the Qld Liberal Party even more of a joke.

Andrew,
Various comments made above meet grounds for defamation and cross the line of slander and some threats made border on extortion, as I'm sure you've had threats of legal pursuit before and have had many unenjoyable well documented and reported trips to court, I would caution you to monitor your contributor’s comments more closely for appropriateness.
And yes it will meet grounds for slander and defamation if your readers do not have substantiated proof of their comments,
Without documented or photographic proof your hearsay, malicious gossip and cruel intended words fall on deaf ears, and thus your and your contributor’s defence hapless.
I would have thought the contributor’s from the Melbourne University Liberal Club with law degrees would have know better, obviously not
Furthermore contributors who think that hiding behind bogus names and "anonymous" mean their actions are without consequence or identification, think again, there are many legitimate, yet time consuming ways to track you down.
Trust me, I’ll make the time.
Best Wishes Samantha

Samantha Bowden has no grasp of syntax and punctuation.
Ever heard of the 'yob's comma', Samantha?
It looks like this, people put in a comma instead of a full stop, you would think a person so trenchantly planted on their soapbox might know how to construct a proper sentence.
Sadly, Bowdlerising Samantha does not.

Threats without follow through are just so much piffle.

Sammy,
I think you are suited for greater things than attempting to pen quasi-legal, multiple posts on behalf of Mark Powell. You're backing a losing horse.

Samantha knackers, if you knew anything about the law yourself you would know that there has been no successful defamation action against internet publishers - much less anonymous commentators on weblogs.
And why are you defending Powell anyway? Do you want to get back on the horse now he has a chance of getting into the Senate?

There are a lot of bush lawyers in politics, especially student politics. I always laugh when I hear a 19 year old threaten to sue another 19 year old for defamation.
It ain't going to happen.

Again, this is more disgraceful action by the OC.
I was not only at NUS, but sitting next to Mr Powell when he was forced to name himself.
He did indeed call out Mark Powell and repeated it when asked due to the ignorant left NUS members continuing to shout over the top of him.
It was not until a substantial period afterwards that another great unwashed leftoid NUS muncher incorrectly alleged the racial slur.
Get your facts straight, or I wouldn't be surprised if you did indeed find yourself in court.
To your other uneducated readers and commentators above - you're right, a politician never seeks legal justice when they are wronged... never

This is very true. I was there when Powell yelled "White Power". He is very racist. In fact, Powell has been connected to One Nation on many occasions.
Samantha, how can you sleep with such a racist brute?

"In fact, Powell has been connected to One Nation on many occasions."
This is absolutely disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.
The slander and defamation you are slinging around is completely uncalled for and unnecessary.
It is a sad state of affairs when all you can do is sling false allegations because someone may finally be getting some reward for the many years of hard work put in.
Mark has never and will never be connected with One Nation. This is a typical example of unfounded mud slinging. Where are the facts? Where are the examples? None you say? oh.... shut up then

Oh and Samantha, you do realise that Senators don't have a press secretary, right?
So there is really no point auditioning, as stirling as your efforts have been on Landeryou and Nameless.

I've never been to a NUS conference, but I did hear of stories of Liberal students doing absolutely juvenile things - it wouldn't surprise me if this story was true.
The culture of juvenility reflects badly on all who take part in it. Grow up, kids.

Well, well, well. It seems as though the kiddies from Melbourne Uni have come out to play again!
I am dismayed to say I was once part of the group from Melbourne Uni - a long time ago, and before the group radicalised itself and turned into a boys-club targeting anyone and everyone who opposed them.
The important thing to remember here is that us older and wiser heads must continue to make sure the kiddies are kept in line; having worked in the political sphere for quite some time now, at all levels of government, I have learned a very very important lesson and that is that it wont be the courts that hold the kiddies to account, it will be preselection delegates. I hope and I am there!

Sacha, not sure why you have singled out Liberal Students as exhibitors of the trait of juvenile behaviour at NUS Conferences.
Juvenile behaviour is the order of the day accross the political divide at any NUS conference. Liberal Stduents, NOLS, Unity, Socialist Alternative and any other rag tag bunch of mainly 18-23 year olds are all as bad as each other at NUS.
NUS Conferences serve as a reminder as to why VSU is a great thing.
Destroy NUS.
