Kevin Donnelly sticks to Kroger and Costello like turd on a shoe. Given that they support him half heartedly- or rather , they used him to try and knock out factional rivals , they have never fully supported him, as is clear form the fact that he has never got a spot.

Generational change was blown out of the water for 2 reasons:
1. Costello's on going internal destablising of Howard. Costello and his henchmen many of which are still in the parliament were tellign Howard he was too old, so is it any surprise that Rudd picked up on the effort. With thanks to Costello!
2. The fact the public could not stand Costello as a PM. And Libs would have walked away from the election campaign
He's had 11 plus years to warm the cockles of the voters heart and failed dismally.
3. Liberals are relieved that Costello is on the way out .The only ones shedding tears are his stackers on the administrative committee, David Kemp and the State Director whose credibility is linked to that of Costello and his Vic Parliamentary henchmen who he protected.
4. They are battling to hold on to their tattered credibility , their own futures and to still hold the reigns of power for Fed pre-selections for by elections when they come up .
Like Kroger, Costello aims to pull the strings after his political burial.
