US Independence Day should really be called their 1st civil war as it was Americans fighting Americans with one side backed by the British and the other backed by the French - and the French won. After "Independence" the new American nation installed a slave owner as President (Washington) who was not a Greenie eithor - he cut down the cherry tree - women, indians and blacks did not get the vote and about 250,000 Americans who supported the British were expelled forever. Since then 3 Presidents have been murdered and a few other wounded. What a great country.
