James Hird has a fantastic surname. The Hird were the Secret Police of Quisling in Nazi Norway during World War 2.
Talk about Erica Betz as Mayne used to call him in Nameless. His great uncle was Otto Abetz, the Nazi Ambassador in Paris during World War 2.
If this Labor Party has a Hird we have an Abetz. Don't forget also the Democrats had a Hitler Youth card carrying Senator, as Jeff once told us. Shouldn't speak ill of Sid Spindler. He died last week and was buried last Friday after a service at the Lutheran Church in East Melbourne. Sid wasn't a bad old bloke, and he helped a lot of Aborigines at the end of his life, so I think we'll forgive him for a youthful indiscretion.
My friend Sid Spindler was conscripted into the Hitler Youth. Doesn't count.
And Justin Madden is good planning minister for my developer friends. He govern Beijing style - the very best.
John Faulkner should switch from the Senate and run for a Reps seat - he would be perfect for Higgins. Even though I failed to get Peter Costello into the Lodge, I will run a great campaign to get John Faulkner into Higgins.
The House of reps needs someone of his high Moral Standing. And as we all know (after we all read my column on Monday), there is no one of greater Moral Standing than John Faulkner.
Any party that supports members of the Essendon Football club is on a losing streak. There should be a law to ban Essendon supporters from standing for public office or managing public blogs.
