You speak only the truth. even worse, these Councils spend my hard earned rate money on wasteful court actions pursuing their folly.

The secretive state government is to blame. Suddenly Melbourne is flooded with newcomers, and infrastructure is staggering. But where did this invasion come from? Why is nothing being done about? Life is becoming an awful grind here. High petrol costs, unaffordable housing prices and rents, overcrowded trams and trains, thugs, the list is endless.
If Ted or Muddler can come up with a plan...

Ted and Tezza can't come up with a plan for next week, let alone one dealing with all Victoria's rapidly mounting problems. Terry Muddler also seems to have joined a silent monastic order as a hobby. He has very little to say about anything these days. Maybe that's a good thing.

Terry is certainly a lot more credible as Premier than John Brumby.

Brumby IS premier!
Muddler is a possible pretender to Ted. But nobody knows because he hasn't said anything. Probably Terry doesn't know either. As to his credibility credentials, your guess is as good as mine. It's uncharted territory.
For the last three weeks, he's been the Invisible Man.

Yikes! That's a bit rough even for posts to this blog. Peter is not a contender for Liberal leadership, so we can safely disregard whatever predilictions he may or may not have.

Left with NIMBYsm has left rents and low cost housing to the markets.
One would have thought that 2030 type planning would have appealed to them. However, their lack of alternative solutions to Melbourne's rapidly increasing population has placed them with no alternatives.

This gave me a chuckle. The market is working so well now we can see investment floodng back in at the prospect of high rent returns. Ooops! Actually the vacancy rate has never been lower. Just for the record the Tenants Union supports Melbourne 2030 and any other proven initiatives to incraese the supply of affordable housing. Unfortunately supply will take quite a while and its necessary to have some other policy solutions in the meantime. If you don't like rent control, what's your plan?

Hi Mark
My plan for pushing rents down?
Increase supply by fast-tracking planning applications.
Very simple but would work.
Why do apartments take longer to approve at the planning stage than they take to build?
This makes no sense.
I'm glad to see the Tenants Union take a pro-development stance. I hope it's a contagious view within the Left.
