Global what now? I haven't even heard of any of this warming stuff! You'd think that for something that is potentially very important that someone, somewhere, would throw a bunch of globally coordinated awareness raising pop concerts or something.

"...every dollar and hour diverted to a crisis that might not exist has real and tragic costs." Not a very convincing point given he's searched out deniers and knows there's still a good chance man-made climate change is a troublesome reality. Money spent on it is therefore still a good bet and a lot of gov't spending is on crises which might not exist. The majority of money invested will be from the free market and Australian Gov't funds spent subsidising new energy industries or at least research will most likely be diverted from middle-class welfare.

The first interview I googled with Dr Duncan Wingham contradicted the point of view attributed to him here.
"Robyn Williams: OK, we’ll come back to that in a minute, but what makes you think that global warming is not having an effect? Is it because some people have said that as the temperatures might rise, so you get more water in the atmosphere and therefore more precipitation. In fact, paradoxically you’d in fact get an increase in the level of ice in Antarctica.
Duncan Wingham: The straightforward reason is that Antarctica is a very cold place. The temperature in the interior is or order minus 60, it’s essentially frozen solid. If you increase the temperature by a couple of degrees you aren’t going to reach the melting point of ice. So essentially we don’t expect global warming to do very much to the Antarctic ice sheet, except as you indicate make rather small changes to the amount of snow arriving on it."
"Duncan Wingham: Yes, we’re studying that as well. But the Arctic is a very different situation. First of all the Arctic ice sheet is floating, it’s a thin layer of ice. The second thing is that global warming there may indeed have an effect. If the reductions that we’ve seen over the past ten years are continued for 50 there’ll be very little of the Arctic ice cap left in 60 and 70 years."
What is the point of using someone that actually believes Global Warming exists as a Denier? Can you be An Alarmist and A Denier?
