The OC // Andrew Landeryou's Blog of Freedom

Well done Alex.

Great news.

Another photo of the Great Man, Alex Hawke, in from of the Aussie flag!

This guy is such an inspiration to me.

Gravatar Hurrah to patriot Hawke!

Gravatar I've never won anything by that much.

Gravatar Poor Alan Cadman. At least the 300 year old man will still be in parliament after the next election.

Gravatar Must admit my suprise at your joy, Andrew. Hawke is a well known associate of D.Clarke, known for his blatant anti-Semetism.

Recorded here:

As a fellow proud defender of Israel, I am troubled.

Gravatar In the Know - you clearly know nothing! Alex Hawke is a very strong supporter of Israel and any suggestion that he is an anti-Semite or racist is just ridiculous.

And to the other bloggers mocking Alex for standing in front of the Australian flag - at least he actually respects our flag! He's not one of those pathetic Labor Party hacks who stand in front of it for election posters whilst at the same time lobbying to change it.

Congratulations Alex! You'll make a great PM one day.

Gravatar Alex Hawke is hot.

Good on him! I know he's worked really hard for this.

Gravatar I preferred Labor's Hawke.

Gravatar How did the other nominees go? There was some serious talent contesting the preselection of this seat. I only wish that my own party could attract outstanding candidates instead of endorsing hacks like Alan Griffin, Jenny Macklin, Simon Crean and so on. All of the above must go - under Rudd, party renewal must occur. Anyway, congratulations to Alex Hawke, the facist douchebag.

Gravatar What an incredible result for Hawke. Admittedly I dismissed this guy as another Howard wannabe hack...but freaking hell...preselection to the safest Liberal seat in Australia? One with a margin of 20%? At age 27? That is truly incredible.

This guy certainly has got what it takes to go all the way. Let's see if he's patient enough to learn the ropes for a few years, instead of making his tilt too early and failing.

He's only 27, he's got all the time in the world.

Gravatar "but freaking hell...preselection to the safest Liberal seat in Australia? One with a margin of 20%? At age 27? That is truly incredible. "

Freaking hell, Birdt, he's a branch stacker on steroids... the guy's spent the last five years planning this putsch and stuffing his Young Liberal mates into Mitchell to get his way. It sucks when it happens on either side of politics and it sucks very badly here, because Hawke is exactly the kind of righty ideologically driven fruitbat the Libs don't need. He'll be fine on the backbenches if Howard gets back in this time around, but if the Libs lose it'll be Hawke and his Christian crusaders who make the Tories even more unelectable in 2010.

Gravatar What a coup for the ultra right wing of the lib party that crucified Brogden. Branch stacking has brought the result Alex and his Darth Vada mates wanted. It is not good news for the lib party.

Gravatar Yes, it is terrible that a Christian, of all people, was preselected by a major political party for a winnable seat.

Only atheists are enlightened enough to run for parliament.

How could a mainstream party, such as the Liberal Party, possibly let someone that follows the same faith as 70% of their follow Australians win preselection?

This is madness. Madness.

Gravatar "Yes, it is terrible that a Christian, of all people, was preselected by a major political party for a winnable seat." Insert irony marker here.

A reductive argument, Christian, and worthless. Address the issues - Hawke has a long history of radical right pronouncements well outside the '70% of fellow Australians'. Why not preselect a Christian who isn't quite so homophobic, and maybe prepared to examine the facts on issues like safe injecting rooms instead of parroting bigoted assertions from the far right. There are, as you say, plenty of Christians out there, especially in Mitchell. But they don't all think, or talk, like Alex Hawke.

Gravatar Matthew 21:22, since when was it a manifestation of "bigotry" to oppose the ironicly named "safe injecting rooms"? The majority of voters - Christian and non-Christian alike - are opposed to safe injecting rooms for heroin addicts. Are they bigots too?

As for the cry of "homophobic", I have never once heard Alex make a comment suggesting that he fears homosexulas in the years in which I have known him.

Gravatar There are many Christians in Parliament, and I think everyone would encourage their presence - what we dont need, however, is fundamentalist obscurantists claiming to represent mainstream values.

By the way, where in the Bible is it sanctioned to drive John Brogden to attempt suicide? I dont recall that chapter...

Gravatar Just another Liberal hack and nothing more.

Expect a Ruddslide in 07

Gravatar The usual extremist-leftist cries of "extremist" "racist" "homophobic" when they find someone successful on the right.
Alex has never made any "homophobic" remarks, nothing to link him to any 'extremism' or by which you can call him "fundamentalist", and there is no evidence linking him to the Brogden thing at all. Yet the left are all baying like crazy.
Grow up.

Gravatar Not sure, Pburra, probably around the same Book and Chapter that auhorises lefties to tell whatever lies they deem necessary in order to blacken Alex Hawke's good name.

Gravatar How about Albanese's farcical comments on Hawke? Albanese is left wing filth.

For Hawke to have been attacked by Albo, a hopeless hack that can barely speak English, is something that Hawke should wear as a badge of immense honour.

Gravatar Anon, it's bigotry to intolerantly hold to a set of beliefs and opinions in the face of rational evidence to the contrary. It's all good news coming out of the injecting rooms, especially for the parents of the silly buggers doing the injecting. At least the junkies are being kept alive until the counselling services can get through to them. The masses opposed to harm minimisation, if you ask them down the pub, are badly informed... thanks very much Alan Jones and the Tele. Alex Hawke should know better, but no, he keeps banging the old 'shut it down' drum. Throw the problem into the alleyways again where the kids can go back to dying in the gutters.

And who knows what you think 'homophobic' means? Hawke opposes the right of gay couples to form a civil union (let alone a 'marriage'). What's he afraid of? Hawke opposes gay asylum seekers who have been persecuted for their homosexuality being granted refugee status. Again, what's he afraid of? Hawke wants the age of consent raised for gay men to protect young men from 'predators'. Predators. Sounds pretty bloody scared to me, Anon. Does he want to raise hetero age of consent too? Apparently not. No hetero predators out there.

Gravatar "By the way, where in the Bible is it sanctioned to drive John Brogden to attempt suicide? I dont recall that chapter..."

Pburra I think it's Leviticus 24:14 'Take that man out of the camp. Everyone who heard him curse David Clarke shall put his hands on the man's head to testify that he is guilty, and then the whole community shall stone him to death.'

Gravatar Truly the Lord is moving amongst the Liberals and we will all be better people for it.
I understand that the Liberal Party meetings will now ushered in by a Prayer in Latin (as you do in Opus Dei!)..and any naughty Liberals can expect to be given a Lashing as in Opus Dei mode !
Praise the Lord.. Dominus Vobiscum !!

Gravatar Alex Hawke appears to oppose same sex marriage, drug use, abortion, changing the Australian flag, becoming a republic.... just like most of his local community.

It seems obvious to me that MPs should represent their electors.

Gravatar Alex sounds like an excellent candidate for a bashing.

Gravatar Just a careerist like the rest of em on both sides. Pretty extreme views though regarding abortion etc, well outside that So called " mainstream 70%"

Gravatar Alex Hawke exposed my racist drunken and debauched behaviour at a function. Surely this disqualifies im from public office.

Gravatar So let me get this straight (no pun intended), Alex opposes abortion (as do the majority of practising Christians), he is a monarchist, he doesn't want to change the flag and he is opposed to same sex unions. Wow, he must be radical extremist.

So Alex Hawke along with John Howard, Tony Abbott, Kevin Andrews, and thousands of others in the Liberal Party like him are "extremist", "bigoted" "hompohobic", [insert shrill rhetoric of choice in here].

Alex, for daring to reject various PC policies and to stand up for what many Liberals believe in you should be congratulated.

Rock on Alex. Well done mate.

Every time a lefty loser, be it a weirdo like Albanese or some Grouper slags you off, the choice by the Mitchell preslectors is vindicated.

Gravatar Brogden liked a dirnk, so he can't be all that bad.

Gravatar Yup, okay, he sounds like a perfect candidate for the good Liberal burghers of Mitchell. Go for it Alex.

I wonder if he'll loudly sing 'God Save the Queen' again during the Welcome to Country at parliamentary functions?

Gravatar If Alex Hawke and his cronies represented mainstream values, why was their puppet Peter Debnam so badly crushed in March?

Mainstream is not the 3000 people who attend Hillsong with you.

Gravatar Alex is a lover of "The Botty Spank".

Gravatar Alex detests all Botty Spankers, especially Kevvie, the tosser from Queensland.

Gravatar Sure, Hawke is against freedom and is a cliche conservative hack. But how is that different to many other people already in parliament? Why the big deal about this guy?

Gravatar Bring back John Hewson.

Gravatar Outrageous! A Conservative political party preselected a conservative.

Gravatar The Party should have listened to Fatty Doyle and preselected Peter Georgas for Mitchell. Gee Fatty, you sure knew how to pick candidates!

Gravatar Overtly religious.
Overtly patriotic.
Overtly fanatical.

He smells trouble.

Extreme left or right always mean one thing: disaster.
