Gillard is an outstanding parliamentary performer even if some of here rhetoric is a bit hard core at times. Macklin is weak by comparison I am sure that is all. It is very difficult to contrast someone like Julia with other woman as she is a real star.
We at 104 think highly of Diane Anderson. She is lovely. We wish her success in her election as a delegate to ALP Conference from Higgins. I spoke to Peter Costello last night and he too wishes Diane every success. She does a better job taking on John Brumby than most of our parliamentary party. Paul Austin once put her on the front page of The Age.

Apologies for straight comment: Barry Pond: Provocative beliefs, but honest (but unfortunately, that is often a liability). Accurate re his 'non-factional' union allegiance; a strongly independent mind and behavior. Fought a remarkable lone hand for employee rights, while denied Union support. Agree with him or not, his integrity and energy are rare and threatened virtues.
Get your hand off it, Barry (or "Gerry of Mentone" as you call yourself"). A man of integrity wouldn't put his name to a publication that contains out-and-out lies about his fellow ALP members; wouldn't make things up about his fellow candidates, like calling Tim Lisle-Williams unqualified; and wouldn't burst into branch meetings without notice and start abusing fellow members of his party without provocation.
If that's integrity, then Brendan Nelson has the coolest new video on You Tube.
Barry lost every possible vote he could have got at the last Malvern branch meeting, when he bowled in, demanded to speak, and speak and speak and yes, speak. He insulted the president of the branch, and the local left were observed shaking their collective heads. How could this man destroy any chance he had of winning votes.
This is the same barry pond who wants to change the name of his branch and carve up the higgins fea leaving the largest recruiting grounds to his branch. Needless to say, this is against the rules of the party. His own branch is demanding that the mover and seconder of the malvern and glen iris branches of a motion against the name change appear before his tooronga branch for disciplining.
Please dont blame the whole Higgins FEA for the behaviour of three or four covern members. Even the local sl don't like them. Indeed, individual sl members are unlikely to vote for pond for returning officer - denying him his 28th mugabe style year in the role. even the left are sick and tire d of this bloke.
