Why doesn't the ALP consider real people, not plastic imitations who act as Ministerial Advisers ??? Surely there are REAL people out there beside councillors, aparatchiks and nongs who see themselves as parliamentary material.

Nick Reece is the lefts candidate in Williamstown. He will be very upset if he has to pull out for his fellow Leftard in Albert Park.

Martin established strong community links when he was Secretary of the ASU; he did much better than his predecessors in that regard. He also achieved good outcomes for members, including airline workers. He's bright and hard working and would make a good local Member.

That and his coterie of leftards don't inspire confidence.

Dear Anon 5.05 pm - you're right - I used to be in the ASU. Because of that, I think I'm in a position to say that his performance as ASU Secretary was good. Having said that, i was concerned about martin's attitude after he moved on as ASU Secretary, as he seemed quite sour and a bit closed and that hindered his ability to build on some of the positive relationships he had developed when he was ASU Secretary. But that was a few years ago, so hopefully he has moved on from that, otherwise it would effect his capacity to be an effective MP.
