I think that these latest policies are building the Howard's momentum going into the campaign. The past few days have been all Howard. Rudd is nowhere to be seen.

Sorry to throw a squib into your verbal parade in one area, one of the very many reasons for the delay, the Liberal war chest, is not full. They needed the tax payer advertising.
A lot faithful have become unfaithful. This is probaly the reason for the high risk gambits, because the small l s and some big moneyshots are absent where it counts for election day.
It's also why it is all me speak. Note he didn't take Indigenous reconciliation to the war party.
Agree with everything else though.
I wish he hadn't done work choices and Tesltra cock up and faded quietly.
But he didn't.

Howard = neocon fascist.
May he hang along with his buddy GWB. I would like nothing better than to see both on the scaffold.

This is going to be a close election. Have no doubt about that. Which way it falls is difficult to say.
There is going to be a swag of voters who have toyed with Rudd's novelty in opinion polls, simply because polls don't matter. When it comes down to it, many will switch back. You also have protest voters, who poll as Labor because they're annoyed with one government policy, typically IR. Many will change back. Labor's lead is 'weak' because it is not backed by economic confidence.
When asked why they will vote for Labor, many who are polled respond "They seem to be doing well in the polls". His lead is self-propelled. If the Liberals gather momentum, they might be very difficult to stop as we near election day.
Don't forget, Howard won the GST election despite recieving less of the vote.

Take heart ALP!
The US mid-terms were also held at the top of the economic cycle. Yet the polls showed that the Government of the day was about to lose - and it all came to pass.
Keep working and make sure everyone's enrolled to vote!!!
The era of Howard is about to end.
