We like Dean Sherriff. Our Banyule Mayor Wayne Phillips thinks highly of him, and suggests he would make an outstanding federal MP if the ALP were smart enough to endorse him. Wayne said he'd be a much better MHR than Jenny Macklin in JagaJaga.
Dean on the Banyule Council gets things done. He's one of the smartest operaters around, Wayne added. Sounds like we ought to start talking to him. Someone like Dean would be very good in our party. Dean's too good to be in the ALP.
We'd only trade Dean for something of equal value. Our bottom line is corflutes of Alan Brown, Jeff Kennett, Denis Napthine, Robert Doyle and Ted Baillieu.

Watsonia Winkers is an alias for Martin Appleby twice defeated candidate for Hawdon Ward soundly defeated by a girl into third place and never close to the incumbent Councillor Peters.
Appleby puppet of Craig Langdon (no strings if you no what I mean) has no chance against incumbent Peters who has a stranglehold on Hawdon Ward.
Sherriff looks like holding Grimshaw with a strong local support.
ALP will hold both of those seats despite efforts by Brooks and Langdon to lose them to the Liberals.

CASH-STRAPPED councillor Dean Sherriff wants to hold a fundraising dinner to help fight his conviction for road rage offences.
The embattled Grimshaw Ward councillor has even pleaded with Banyule mayor Wayne Phillips for money to help fund his appeal, which was adjourned for the third time last week.
Cr Sherriff received a four-month suspended jail term in December 2005 for smashing a car windscreen with a metre-long pole, showering broken glass over two children inside.
Cr Phillips said Cr Sherriff had visited him at home early last week asking for money, but he had refused.
Cr Phillips said it would not have been appropriate to help Cr Sherriff financially because his court case was not related to his role as a councillor.
``No matter what I did, it would be seen as me potentially using the council allowance and that's not appropriate,'' Cr Phillips said.
But Cr Sherriff denied asking for money and said he had simply asked Cr Phillips to support him in a fundraising activity to help pay for legal representation.
``I asked him about the fundraiser and asked him if he knew anyone who did short-term loans,'' Cr Sherriff said.
Cr Sherriff said he proposed to hold a dinner with a guest speaker and it would not be the first time a fundraiser had been held for a court case.
``After a few years of constantly paying lawyers . . . you run out of money,'' he said.
Last Wednesday, he asked for more time to prepare his case, telling the Melbourne County Court he had sacked his lawyer a day earlier because of concerns over the line of argument and his own financial problems.
``I have already spoken with my parents and close friends they are now fully aware of my plight,'' Cr Sherriff told Judge Stuart Campbell. ``Up until this time last week, I have been too proud to ask for public donations to fund this case.''
Cr Sherriff told the court he had received Centrelink payments and had also worked one day at a packing company.
Cr Sherriff's appeal was put off in September because of a fainting disorder.
Judge Campbell said he was ``not impressed'' by Cr Sherriff's third plea for more time but adjourned the case until March 29.
Cr Sherriff received the suspended jail term, a fine of $1165 and had his licence suspended for six months when he pleaded guilty a week after the November 2005 council election to criminal damage, unlawful assault and careless driving. He could be removed from council if he loses his appeal.

A LABOR MP has accepted thousands of dollars in donations from a community organisation he runs.
Government Whip Craig Langdon took the donations in return for letting the business group work in his taxpayer-funded office free of charge.
The arrangement was made more complicated when he became treasurer, then president, of the organisation -- meaning he co-signs some cheques.
The Mall Traders Association has admitted making several donations to Mr Langdon's election account to thank him for allowing them to use his office in the Bell St Mall, Heidelberg West, and to "relieve their guilt."
I'm so proud to live in Jagajaga. We have a fantastic MHR and great local members. Its a pity our council is so right wing though.
Pity the ALP aren't good enough in Jaga Jaga to win enough seats to control Banyule Council.
Losing to a theif and a liar as stated by the state of victoris, is not so damaging as dealing with a convicted hit and run driver, like a certain BC councilor! I think they will see it through, to the end, like any good supporter of fairness and the good of the community. The twins will loose, D.P & D.S
