The next 7 years aint gonna be pretty for 104

It is amazing that the libs are in such a state of disarray. Like in the South East, the local libs in this area are doing their utmost to retain the Chief Executive Officer, Mike Tyler of the City of Casey. It is well known that Tyler, a conservative from way back, with strong ties to former upper house member Neil Lucas (good chap I say) and current Casey Councillors and Lib members Michael Morland (failed candidate at last years state election) Brian Heatherton (who drinks far too much, as does his wife) and Lorraine Wreford (what can one say about this person.....except hated by the Cranbourne libs admin).
Tyler is fighting for his political life as he is determined to follow in the footsteps of Lucas. The Victorian Liberals would love to have him at Spring Street, and he would know doubt be thrust into a front bench seat. He has very good connections within most government departments (well at least the bureaucrats) and has used these contacts extremely well over the past 10 years as CEO to fend of the attacks from the local Labor cohorts.

Good call anonymous, spot on ! Tyler is a great man and would give some much needed muscle to the Victorian Liberal machine. Lorraine Wreford I know for a fact was extremely cheesed of about mising preselection for Cranbourne at the last State Election, and it has been confirmed, even ventured into the standing Labor Members office during the election campaign to brief the Local Member and his staffers, what the Lib Candidate (Luke Martin) were doing in advance, so as to assist labor hold the seat in the hope she is preselected next time around to stand for the seat of Cranbourne....FAT CHANCE.... if the local branch has any say.

Not a bad summary Andy. Quite an accurate post on the current state of the Libs in Vic. Your sources are good.

Southwick will be the next member for Caulfield without a doubt and will roll Shardey when the opportunity next presents it's self. The locals love him (they represent 60% of the vote) and he has the support of the Kroger faction. (they will help pull numbers for Southwick with the other 40% of members who come from around the state) That’s the double whammy. Southwick would have rolled Shardey last time, and easily had the numbers but if people will recall, the leader at the time Robert Doyle went out of his way to protect all sitting members. Some may remember the huge effort made to protect Kim Wells in Scoresby from a challenge by Michael Gidley who was given the less safe seat of Mt Waverley that he was unable to win. A similar situation occurred in Caulfield (without the press) Basically the locals were told to leave Shardey alone “this time.” Many considered this very bad judgement by Doyle as it prevented new, fresh and talented blood being brought into parliament and in any event Doyle received no thanks for helping his internal enemies (Shardey and Wells) They, together with David Davis and others stabbed him in the back at the first opportunity!

This of course is in stark contrast to the ALP, who pre-selected Shorten, Marles and Dreyfus (3 out of 4, missed out on Crean) into winnable seats and cleaned out their dead wood from the federal scene. The Libs could learn a lesson or two for the ALP here.

Getting rid of "deadwood" is an interesting concept.

What is the point of getting rid of "deadwood" if the replacement candidates are even worse than incumbents?

More often than not people that talk about removing "deadwood" are really talking about ridding the Party of people from a particular faction - because they are from that faction – and for no other reason (i.e. their competence as an MP or Shadow Minister as the case may be is not the issue, their factional allegiance is the only motivating factor).

A good case in point is Michael Gidley. Even Krogerites with half a brain realise he is a talentless hack and no match for Kim Wells, yet under the banner of getting read of deadwood, Asher Judah and other friends tried to foist Gidley on Scoresby. A retrograde step for the Liberal Party had these manoeuvrings been successful.

Hey, I know my fashion!

I was very wrong about that scrub rat Shardey.
She did the same to me what Dr Michael Wooldridge does to her!!
As for Wells and Davis the less said the better.

Fatty, I think the Jeffistas fail to understand that had you been allowed to lead the Party to the State election, that you would now be Premier of Victoria and that I would now be Education Minister.

Damn Teddy Bear, David Davis and RDR.

Teddy LOMBARD (Lots Of Money But A Real Dickhead) sums him up Victor.

Fatty you scratched Wells and Shardeys back and what did they do in return, they stabbed you in the back. You were warned.

And Davis the laziest MP in the history of the Victorian Parliament.

Yes, Davis was better at stacking branches than putting together a comprehensive health policy as you so succinctly pointed out on election night.

Speaking of lazy MPs, what about Christine Fyffe? She spent the frst few months after being preslected on an oversas holiday (admittedly she was not an MP at that stage, she was a former MP seeking re-election).

Davis has diificult reading anything apart from a cloth book.
As to developing policy, forget it, anything more involved than finger painting and he nods off.

You can't trust chiropractors!

Good policy is what will win the Liberals the next election. For example:
- Ripping up anti-terror laws;
- Abolishing VSU;
- An open-door refugee policy.

I know that not even the Labor Party support such policies, but then again the Labor Party is not entrusted with the solemn duty to uphold the Menzies Legacy.

No not adopt policies further left than the Labor Party is to betray the Menzies Legacy.

Well said, Dr Dean.

I have an important case at HREOC coming up soon, it is in relation to a poor darling that has been falsely accused of being an associate of terrorists.

I think you should be my junior.

This human rights have been infringed in a most egregious manner.

Together we will defend the Menzies legacy.

I too will defend the Menzies legacy.

Look at the way I defended the Merri Creek.

I could carry your Robe Victor?

Including all factions, the list of deadwood in the Victorian Liberal Party is still far too high. Of 38 Liberals 16 need to go.

David Kemp and Ted should show leadership and refuse to protect the under-performing MPs. There must be none of the ridiculous support for all current members of the pollies club that Doyle displayed.

Assembly
Christine Fyffe - lazy and a princess
Nick Kotsiras - never made the leap from advisor to main game
Andrew McIntosh - enjoys the life too much, should return to the bar and drink on his own time
David Morris - not ministerial, a waste of a safe seat
Helen Shardey - what exactly does she stand for? Waste of a decent seat
Ken Smith - past it
Murray Thompson - hopeless, just hopeless

Council
Bruce Atkinson - go now, just go
Andrea Coote - the energiser bunny with no brain
Phil Davis - fat Phil
Bernie Finn - misogynist, venal, thick
David Koch - waste of space and too ill to perform
Jan Kronberg - why is this woman in parliament?
Inga Peulich - it's all about Inga
Gordon Rich-Phillips - dumb and dumber
John Vogels - he's got his pension so why wait?

Robert, where to for lunch tomorrow?

Donovans Victor and we can watch the yummie mummies walk by as we lunch, say 12.45?

That means we only have 16 out of 128, that is a tragedy.
Similar things appear to be happening in the Federal scene.

Donovans it is!

Add to the that list:

Ryan Smith MLA - anyone that Honeypot supports can't be any good.

Wendy Lovell MLC - thick as two planks
Donna Petrovich - Donna Who?

Gravatar Tyler on the Liberal front bench...phew...what are you smoking?
The man isn;t even a member of the Liberal Party!

As for Lorraine Wreford briefing Labor...dream on.

Is this Kevin Bradford blogging here?

Wreford would also be a good local candidate though this is unlikely to be Cranbourne.

Gravatar Anonymous | 09.06.07 - 10:28 pm | #

RDR - not too bright
David Davis -pretty lazy .
Wendy Lovell - a lightweight
Matthew Guy -swinging punches like a drunken sailor
Ed O'Donohue -not much political nouse.
With all that, I don;t think that there are any MPs left in the Council.

Assembly

Louise Asher - Semi Retired already
Ted Bailliue - No leadership skills and very peculiar man.
Mulder - ok at the level he is at but could not cope with anything higher
David Hodget - must stop playing the clown
Michael O'Brien - growing but has he reached puberty?

Gravatar As a rule of thumb, councillors and CEOs of councils are tools, stay well clear of them.

Gravatar The LIi may have their issues but they are luminaries compared to most of Labor's duds !

Gravatar David Davis pretty lazy, WHAT A UNDERSTATEMENT, he couldn't work in an Iron Lung!
He would have to be the most lazy indivividual ever in the Green Chamber.
I reckon he is too lazy to wipe his own arse.

Gravatar That's terribly unkind Fatty. He's not in the green chamber yet. You forget the likes of Jean MacLean who used to wear sunglasses on the red benches so she could sleep with nobody being able to tell. The fact that her waking & sleeping performances were identical, apart from the odd ladylike snore, made the shades redundant, however.

Gravatar The sad thing is that the Liberals have more than enough young up and coming talent within their ranks - keen, hard-working, smart and idealistic. But as soon as they rock up to anything they are instantly viewed as a threat and beaten down. Or, the likes of Fatty Doyle can't look inside their own and instead look to recruit celebrities. Liberals, the keys to power are with you. Just open your eyes and give them a chance. Victorians deserve better.

Gravatar The slagging off of Liberals may be im part true ( the rest factionally tainted) but all of them could be making a bigger contribution if the Libs got their arses into gear and collectively worked as an inclusive team. Teddy boy's job is to find a way to do this.

He should work with all his troops and let the pre-selections take care of themselves without any manipulation from the likes of JS or the two factions.

Gravatar Some nice fiction about the Caulfield thing. There was never any threat of Southwick moving on Shardey, and they get on well.

Southwick is a lovely bloke, but the words "ministerial material" don't pop into my head. Most of the local community see him purely as a children's entertainer and something of an amusement.

Interesting to see Fatty and McPerton get stuck into Fyffe, as she is one of theirs!

As for the backstabbing allegations, those in glasshouses should watch what they throw. I could list about a thousand appropriate cliches, but I have other commitments.

Gravatar Christine Fyffe proved she is a lazy idiot this week.
It has taken her 10 months to realise her facsimile and emails don't work.
Incompetent fool, she must have wondered why no one wanted to contact her or maybe she realises she HAS NO IDEA!

Gravatar Christine Fyffe is an embarassment to all Krogerites. Fatty, you should have got Peter Georgas to run for Kilsyth.

Gravatar David Southwick will always be affectionately known as " Disco Dave". No one possibly could put him on the front bench. Apart form that, he lisps. There will only be one Honeypot.

Gravatar If I give David Southwick a sip of the Chardonay, maybe he'll let me hav another term?

Gravatar Watch this space. DJ Dave is the next member for Caulfield...if he wants it. Chardenney was shitting herself last time in fear that he would challenge her. Fatty put an end to that plan so as to protect his position as opposition leader under the pretence that if he protects Chardenney and Wells they would look after him. Surprise, surprise, they shafted him. Paul Austin was too focussed on Scoresby to look at the games being played in the bagel belt. Southwick after being twice beaten - Melbourne Ports and the unwinnable position on the Southern Metro ticket will run in a guarenteed seat next time. Poor old Adam Held will be left in the wings but that's a whole other story.

Gravatar Shardey has spent too much time looking at Dr Michael "Lipid Leg's" bedroom ceiling.

Gravatar Chardonnay is always shitting herself. But before the last election with no good real reason.

If Fatty protected Wells and Shardey for that reason only, then his own stupidity lost him the leadership. But the Scoresby promise confirmed his stupidity in the eyes of everyone with eyes.

I agree DJ Dave will be the next Member for Caulfield, and it'll be in 2010. But this will be because of a lack of anyone coming through the ranks in Caulfield.

Gravatar James Gobbo would be a much better MLA for Caulfield.

Gravatar After the Scoresby branch was made unconstitutional Wells would have won the Scoresby preselection anyway.

Gidley should have shown the good grace and common sense to pull out of the preselection after the branch of which he was the President was ruled unconstiutional because of branch stacking. He didn't have the numbers from that point onwards (if he ever did have them).

It will be shame if he goes for Mt Waverley again. Mt Waverley is a winnable seat but will remain held by Maxine if Gidley is the candidate in 2010.

Gravatar Gobbo no way.
He is a prize DH and a toffy ponce.

Gravatar Southwick has a chance if Shardey retires. He will never challenge her though. His real problem is that the moment she announces she's not running again there will be a Melbourne Cup field of candidates with better claims that Disco Dave.

Gravatar Shardey was right to shit herself before the last election. She was on less than 1%. The Labor Party had always run dead there but who was to say they wouldn't have a real crack? On Doyley's numbers she was gonna lose her seat.

Gravatar they will be back bolder than ever with the new arrivals of Dale Peters and Jenny M,car't wait for the welcoming party

Gravatar Gobbo was a nice guy but he knew fuck all about politics.

Gravatar Yes, James Gobbo would be ideal for Caulfield- Wife is Jewish, father has a reputation to die for and was supported by the Krogerites.

Southwick is a two time loser. And will never get preselected in a Melbourne Cup field of candidates.

Gravatar Doesn't Caulfield have Matthew Zablud's name on it? Isn't he Shardey's chosen one? Adam who? Is he a mate of Sol Green?

Gravatar There may be a Melbourne Cup field and some of those candidates may be better qualified than Southwick. However, the local members of the Liberal Party in Caulfield and the Krogerites love Southwick and in the game of pre-selections thats all that counts.

Gravatar The problem for James Gobbo is, he and Clem were the only two Libs of the 11 seats that make up the Southern Metro area that had a swing "against" them. Not a great look. "Please pre-select me and I will hopefully not get a swing against me next time."

Gravatar James Gobbo may be a nice guy, but his cousin Nicola is a disgusting lefty.

Gravatar Well said, MR X.

Gravatar Hudson absolutely thrashed Gobbo!!

Gravatar Bracketing James with Clem is a bit harsh. Clem is a complete nutjob.

Gravatar I have a bizarre theory and some unsubstantiated allegations to make. I think I'll put them in a statutory declaration.

Gravatar I like gobbling.

Gravatar A Melbourne Cup field in Caulfield? You mean a post horse-flu Melbourne Cup field? There's hardly anyone.

Gravatar James Gobbo is a a hottie, but a weak campaigner. He needs a safe seat where his close assocaition with the Jewish community ( ie his wife) woud be an advantage rather than divide the Jewish community as did David Southwick. That's why James Gobbon would be perfect for Caulfield.

Gravatar Gobbler | 09.08.07 - 2:51 pm Eh is that you Timmeh....writing under a pseudonym?

Gravatar Gobbler | 09.08.07 - 2:51 pm | #

Hey, Nicola or anyone else , can we get a copy of that Stat Dec on this blog????

Gravatar Both Newton Brown ( that dill) and Gobbo spent a bag full of money - Newton Brown much more than Gobbo, but didn't get the swing due to a lack of strategic direction from 104...with help from yours truly. I only help friends.

Gravatar Giddy Up - can we find him a safe seat. He'll never win a marginal one!

Gravatar No. Giddy Up can find his own. I am looking for one for myself, thank you very much.

Gravatar Peter Ryan has been the most effective opponent of the state ALP, they should give the Opposition Leadership to him

Gravatar Sargeant, your memory is defective. Clem resisted all your attempts to advise him & ran a campaign in the style of Jim Cairns, hence his disastrous result.

Gravatar Well, I was so busy screwing over Teddy's bears, my memory does lapse from tme to time. But as I run election campaigns, can you tell me Tinkerbell, did the other candidates not listen to me too?

Gravatar P!ss off Gobbler.

Gravatar Senator elect, misdeeds always come home to roost!

Gravatar Gobble,gobble.

Gravatar Giddy Ups Yellow Jumper "apparently" still exists......

Although he has learnt that it doesnt attract votes....

Gravatar I'd like to auction Giddy Up's yellow jumper. I think it would raise a lot of money.

Gravatar What about Cox's yellow g-string.

Gravatar What about the orignal copy of my stat dec re Mr X?

Gravatar Hey Tinkerbell - your sources have obviously been in a cave for the last 4 years. Zablud is off doing his thing for the GOP in the US.

At least Clem lost to a half-decent opponent! Hudson is a dill of the highest order, married to an insane woman, and poor old Gobbo couldn't make a dent in a seat looking more like Caulfield as every day passes. Gobbo is clearly more damaged goods than Southwick, and Held will be damaged goods after the landslide.
