Why is the Brumby government like the Stasi in the former so called German Democratic Republic (DDR or East Germany)?
The EPA Stasi is a case in point. The Brumby government encourages a dob in culture, with no accountablity on the part of the dobber. In many cases, possibly a huge number of cases, the complaints are without bases.
If you receive an EPA infringement notice for smoking in your car and you don't smoke what rights do you have?
I intend to go to court. It is up to the EPA to prove that I did not do what I am accused of doing. The complainant will have to perjure themselves in court. Will they be charged with perjury?
The Brumby government does not deserve to remain in office if it supports Stasi like activities by the EPA.
I am an ALP Life Member and I resent being treated like a criminal by ALP electorate offices and Ministerial staff.

And I don't believe that being an ALP member, life or otherwise, should entitle you to favourable treatment from MPs' offices - they are there to serve all the people they were elected to represent, not hand out special treatment to party members.
I am not seeking special treatment. I think the EPA are Stasi and the ALP is wrong to tolerate a Stasi culture of dobbing.
I think all persons charged are entitled to be treated as innocent until proven guilty. The ALP Stasi is forcing people to prove their innocence.
The complainent is entitled to use a reply paid box number. Not so the accused, who has to pay postage to contest the alleged offence.
One rule for the person complaining. Another for the person complained about.
That's seeking justice for all complainants, not myself as a party member.

Wake up, their is a major problem with alcohol in society, parents in the community are not able to or have shown no desire to control or educate their children about responsible drinking so the State Government has to.
Why don't they just change the law so that 2pm is the time clubs/pubs need to close. How late do these people need to stay out. After 2pm they can go over to someone's house if they want to continue drinking.
A good point about smoking. You go out for a smoke and your partner is inside and they don't let you go back in. There would be some serious SMSing going on.

What the hell are the ALP thinking?
The EPA should not automatically send someone an infringement notice for littering unless they have credible evidence and can back it up in court. Rather, they are just sending out infringement notices on the basis of a complaint from a member of the public. What happens if the complaint is malicious? How many people are bullied into paying the fine because they don't want to go to court? How much money is the EPA making from this?
Why should members of the public be presumed guilty before innocent?
Can you imagine the Victorian Police doing this? There would be a huge outcry. Funny how the media don't jump on this. I smell a rat.

if you elect to go to court, the dobber will be asked to give evidence. if they won't, which happens often, you'll be off the hook. waste of your time, but sticks it up 'em
You will find if you sinply deny the accusation the dobber will back of and the fine will not be enforced.
As the fine is not legal until enforced by a magistrate the onus is on the EPA
Hasn't the EPA got better things to do? It seems like they're over-funded.
