If it makes you feel any better, I totally get the reference of your title.
Hair! Flow it! Show it! Long as God can grow it!
As I've mentioned in my blog, I've taken a "scorched earth" approach to my hair. I have had to destroy my hair in order to save it.
I am sorry that your hair is adding complexity and sorrow to your life, which has surely had enough of both.

Aw, Stew, you gotta tell us when you're feeling low. I had no idea, from the chipperness of your posts the last few days.
Watch this, maybe it'll make you smile:

Heh, yeah, that's funny, thanks. I stopped it after the first segment to try to drag out the goodness...
Yeah, that's kind of what I DO, Imperatrix. The deal is that last night there was a boy-related breakdown, which has kind of been like taking the finger out of the dam. The other stuff had been bearable, because the boy-situation was fun. But then the boy situation collapsed into itself, and I came tumbling down from the lack of balance. Blech.
And by the by, I just talked to my favorite gynecologist, Pedro, AKA my stepfather, about my hair. (And just because everyone asks, though I have never understood why, no he is NOT my gynecologist. It's just convenient that he is available for consultation.) Anyway, he thinks there may be a hormone issue going on, leaning towards too much testosterone, which would explain a couple of things really well. Like the grease. And the, ahem, well...nevermind. I have no filter, so I'll go ahead and use it when it occurs to me. Like now.
I'll be calling my doctor, I guess. Woo.

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!
Hope that made you smile. Hope you have more smiles and less tears soon!

Thanks Minty...
I just called someone out that I don't even know for being rude to me. It felt good. She apologized.

ACK. It wasn't minty! Minty is NICE.
It wasn't anyone that any of y'all know, unless you do know her and I didn't know that. Basically it was a listserv moderator who decided to slap my wrists for making a mistake. The mod was VERY rude about it, and so I wrote back and said the following:
"Thanks for explaining why my post didn't go through. I was confused at first why it never showed. If anyone asks you later about where to get this sort of thing I was asking for, I did eventually find it at this website . (hey, did you realize that your last sentence "really mean shitty comment about why i suck" sounds really snotty?)"
The mod immediately apologized and blamed the snottiness on having been in pain and not waiting for pain pills to kick in before dealing with the post, which arguably should have been posted elsewhere. (or not, depending on your point of view...i thought it was appropriate to the spirit, if not the letter, of the group.)
When shit is going down, everything looks like shit.

i hope you feel better soon. also, re: your hair: did you use a huge clump of baking soda or just a teaspoon ? my friend would put just a little bit of baking soda in her hair--after washing and drying it--and it always did the trick.

Thanks Myküll. Another friend consulted with her hairdresser, and so the baking soda went into the shampoo at the hairdresser's suggestion. I'll continue to try to implement the alternatives in a scientific fashion. I have now baking soda post hair washing and drying to try, thanks to you. I also have cornstarch in the same manner to try. Finally, mom suggested a vinegar rinse after shampooing.
Note to self: keep worrying about your hair and you can distract myself from the other LOADS OF CRAP that keep presenting themselves.
