Why hello to you too!
I wonder if we wouldn't be happier if we weren't able to analyze ourselves in such detail. If I can't see something decently with a mirror, I'll take a picture of it so I can obsess in 6 megapixel detail. How nourishing is that for the soul?
You're telling me! The wildest thing is that these pictures are WITH makeup on, and my skin still looks blotchy to my eyes. I focus majorly, also, on the undereye area, which is puffy and dark.
Inevitably the more makeup I have on, the more people tell me I look nice. Not strangers so much, but loved ones. In fact, this morning when I met up with my girl Emily for breakfast, shortly after taking these shots, she said, "You look really good today, Stew!" And then when I told her about the makeup she IMMEDIATELY understood how annoying it was that I look objectively better with it on. Sigh.
I have dark circles under my eyes and they get puffy too. I haven't done this in a while but cucumbers really are AWESOME at getting rid of that prob.
or used teabags - really! Cue the teabagging jokes....
When I hit 30, I figured out that almost everyone looks better with makeup on. One of the first things I bought was swank concealer. V. v. important! Oh, here's a funny story about makeup: after my wedding, I needed to get a new passport to reflect the new nombre. So, I just dropped by one day to a place and got my pics taken. I was so horrified at how dull, limp, sallow, HORRIBLE I looked -- super pissed. So, I decided to go home, slap on some makeup, fluff up my hair, and I went back, and got them re-taken. Now, I had told myself that if the little buffing and glossing hadn't helped, then I needed to look inward and fix something. But.... presto! Fabulous picture. SO good, in fact, that it now backfires on me -- whenever I arrive somewhere (say Turkey, at 2AM) looking haggard and weary, passport checking dudes (for ex., in Turkey) have been known to laugh, point, and call over their other passport checking friends to see the hot girl in the picture compared to the hag in real life! Ha ha! So, anyway. Makeup helps everyone!!
Second thing: did you notice that there are some super cute white boxer puppies at the Wake SPCA? OMG! Cute!
