Wow, it looks amazing!! I can't believe you knit that in two weeks! Absolutely gorgeous! plus, it could come in handy at chilly weddings or other such events!
I've never considered myself a shawl person either but whenever I have to get really gussied-up I always wish I had one to keep me warm.
I've been eyeing the Swallowtail shawl but we'll have to see..I've never been very good at lace.

Wow! You're fast! I'm not a shawl person either. At least I think I'm not. But one made of silk may come in handy once in a while... Love the colour you chose.
Thanks for your comment on Jarrett!

So cool that you found an old friend!
I'm truly not a shawl person, but someday I'll knit one, and who knows? Maybe I'll keep it for myself!!!

Laura, your shawl is absolutely amazing!! I am so NOT a shawl person, either, though I've been craving to try to be. I love your mods... I won't go near laceweight yarn, so once I convince myself to make something lacy, it might just be this very thing!

It looks gorgeous Laura. I always look at those lace patterns and think that I could never knit those. Maybe one day I will get the courage too. How exciting for you too to reconnect with an old friend. I think people always reenter our lives for a reason, and maybe you two will be able to get together to do some knitting too.

Congratulations on the Knitty pattern and on finding such a beautiful model.
I am not a shawl person either, but making shawls is such an addictive adventure. Love it. I can see why you can't part with yours. It's beautiful.

That was fast! It is a beautiful shawl. You know, I haven't ever made a shawl for the same reason as you--just not sure if I would wear it. But for the record, I think you should wear yours--however you want to wear it.

Your shawl looks beautiful! Wow, that's amazing. I'm knitting my first shawl ever, and having a little KAL on the 'net. I can't believe you only took a couple of weeks to knit a shawl! I'm all motivated now.
And yay for reconnecting with friends. That's a neat story, that your friend found you through Knitty. Very cool.

That shawl is gorgeous. I was just thinking the other day how I AM a shawl person, but I cannot imagine how terribly long it would take me to finish something that large... While I'm pretty sure it woudl take me much longer than two weeks, the beauty of it is inspiring me to add a shawl to my list of must knits sooner than when my LO is a teenager

I've been wanting to make this too, even though I'm not much of a shawl person either. The mods are great; I love the thicker yarn, and the color is so pretty.

Beautifully done — sometimes these things sneak up on us, don't they. I used to say I would NEVER want to learn to knit...

I REALLY REALLY REALLY love that shawl. I'm not a shawl person, either, but reading this post inspired a dream that has inspired me to (someday) make a shawl (if only good intentions were worth something, you know?)

Oh I'm the same way with shawls but now that I own a few gorgeous ones I love them and wear them when I get the smallest chance. Yours is really pretty and I'm glad you kept it.
