It is nice to look back and see where you have come from with your knitting and life too. I love the drunken argyle vest too, and I would do the same on both sides too. I love the little argyle knit too, just so sweet. Thank you again for sending me the beautiful yarn too. I will contact you when it arrives.

I don't think your dad was sadistic! He was teaching you self reliance and self confidence! And it's not like he really left you to fend for yourselves -- he was right there all the time. Not that you sound overly scarred about it, but still, I actually think it was kind of cool.
I'm so impressed by your afghan, acrylic though it may be! Machine wash and dry is nothing to be dismissed too quickly, as it sounds like you're already well aware.
