Gravatar Funny; I just sent an email about this gossip I just read... you must be getting lots of other emails as well!

Gravatar Nancy, you have NO IDEA. Not only e-mails but in the comments as well, so while we prefer to take the "high road" and avoid these things - in this case we feel we are here to serve the INTERESTS OF THE FANS - and the fans obviously know about this and want to discuss it.

Those of you who commented in the "villain" thread, feel free to re-post here.

It's going to be all over anyway - might as well try to keep it "organized!"

Gravatar I don't even understand how those qualify as "sketches." They look like crappy renderings from one of those rotoscope flicks like Waking Life or A Scanner Darkly. Regardless, they're...telling.

Gravatar Lol drew, it looks like something you could have done in photoshop. You could just take the original runway picture and add effects to it.

Now that I think about it, Keith probably did copy the exact runway photos.

If he had drawn the illustrations BEFORE designing, it would be incredibly hard to match the model's postition on the runway to the illustration in the same exact way.

Gravatar Shame on Keith for claiming someone else's work as his own. Oh, Keith, I hear Bed Bath & Beyond is hiring and since you have actual, practical and documented experience working with bedsheets, you'll be perfect! Besides, now that EVERYONE knows your little secret, you'll probably be fired from your current place of employment and no one else would want to touch you.

Gravatar I can't wait to see how this plays out. Wednesdays can't come fast enough imo....

Gravatar Okay, I thought there was something off about this guy! What a creep! Kudos to whomever first noticed this.

Gravatar Oh my...that's just wrong. I mean, what the hell was he thinking? And worst of all, he copied from a 'recent' collection. I can't wait for that episode.

Gravatar You mean the Washington Post doesn't have a front page piece on this? Slackers!

Gravatar that is LAME... and he has his nose so high up in the air...

Gravatar oh juicy ... i can't wait to hear what else tim has to say about this bastard. guess he won't be working anywhere anymore. so long keith michael!

Gravatar but i don't think he's the "villain" heidi was talking about. he's got to go early. the scandal has to happen in episode 4 or 5.

Gravatar Keith might not be the "villain" but we know he's a "liar"

Gravatar I'm still not convinced that this is the reason he gets canned (if it's him, even). I think "he" may do something else naughty during the course of filming...

Gravatar What is astounding to me watching RRTR is how anyone can take the time and effort to audition for this show and not understand the expectations explicitly. Like this...or not bringing any garments...or only one garment.

Gravatar Hmmm..... is this really our villain ? I'm not so sure. I don't think he's leaving this week, but he's leaving soon, so I'm kinda hoping for another villian. However, after reading Jeffery's letter to BPR, I feel a little guilty about thinking he's a bad guy....

Gravatar I'm curious how Bravo intends to address this if it is true. Do they ask him to leave and then do an elimination also that episode? How did this happen given the background checks that are part of the application process?

Gravatar I just posted my recap and I wrote about him saying something about sabotage in the previews. That was him, no?

Maybe he's a liar AND evil.

Perhaps Malan isn't the evil genius after all...

Gravatar Katiecoo - I'm still trying to figure out how in the world he got past Tim in the auditions with his menswear and non-original portfolio.

Joann Pailey had this guy pegged in the auditions. She seemed incredulous that they were still talking to him. I get the feeling that he is one of those guys where the producers were nodding their heads up and down to Tim off-camera, seeing his potential "personality quotient".

Gravatar People are just getting too good at figuring things about before the shows air. I wonder how this will affect PR's future airing of commercials and promos. They're already trying to make them vague and misleading. I also think that leaving the titles off the schedule are so that people can't make educated guesses about who might be "in" or "out"

Oh I was reading Keith Michael's bio and he started out as a "Fashion Photorapher", so that certainly means he'd know a lot about manipulating/editing photographs.

Gravatar Scarlett, maybe the tight scheduling (from audition to actual filming) played a role. They probably didn't do a thorough reference check until after they got on the show. So this is probably going to happen on the third or fourth episode, right?

Gravatar Hey I was wondering...
Where did that website get those pictures of Keith's portfolio ?
They're not on the PR website...

Gravatar When I think of all the legitimate, honest, talented hopefuls who tried out for PR#3 and spent hundreds of dollars (if not more) on their travel and arrangements - and who carefully prepared their portfolios and sewed their designs and recruited models - and waited in line and finally got in to see the judges and were turned down - while this guy makes it onto the show without showing any women's wear - and claiming that he works for "Wyeth" which he DOESN'T - and tracing some images of other designers' work and calling it his portfolio - then he makes a dress for the first challenge which is supposed to be innovative - but it ISN'T - and he wins anyway - well I just feel sick. And I get a really long run-on sentence.

Gravatar ^^

They're screencaps of the shows...not on PR's website

Gravatar Tbone, I agree with your comment about Joann Pailey. She was very articulate in making her case, which I agreed with and I was surprised that they would move him on when they had dismissed others (or so it seems) for the same reason-or less, even. I thought the whole "collaboration" thing was odd (including the grammar), very vague, KWIM? The unfortunate thing is that the guy has some talent (his dress wasn't awful, just not outstanding to me) and he might have made it if he had done it the right way-

Gravatar earlier I said that I doubted he would be auffed for overstating his credentials, but then I saw the pics side by side, thats not overstating, thats downright plagiarizing someone elses work!

Gravatar Now we know why he only had sketches of womenswear to show and not garments. It's a shame - based on his percale dress, he may well have had a future in womenswear.

According to the Best Week Ever blog, it was someone on Television Without Pity who noticed it. I wonder if the photos were from FirstView, which is a very well-known site featuring exclusive photos of all the catwalk shows, for others to have found the exact poses that were depicted in his sketches (minus accessories).

Gravatar I keep wondering if Bravo knew about this before they added him to the show. Nina had attended some of those runway shows and in Road to the Runway she says Keith is a "little tricky." I'm sure they have seen plenty of copied designs in their designer screening process.

Do you think they added him knowing he'd copied the designs just for the extra drama?

Gravatar I think if it is Keith I think it would have to be for some other thing. I'm sure they checked with Wyeth prior to casting. By the prices he charges for his line, mostly women's, he must be doing something right.
I don't like him, I think he's shifty, but I'm not possitive he's the one who gets booted. If he doesn't get booted I hope he gets a attitude adjustment.

Gravatar Here's an interesting question-if it happens to be him, he has immunity this week-what aboutthe designer who is auf'd this week? To take it further, what happens from then on? Suppose Robert had won this week, it would be interesting to see if that changes anything. Do you take the position that the next person would be out anyway or that the results are all a little skewed because of this? And what about the person who might have made it on to the show instead of him?

Gravatar Personally, I figured this out in grade school. Never copy the other guy's work exactly!

Gravatar This made me think of the cheaters in one of my drafting classes. I taught AutoCAD drafting and it is easy to just copy someone else's file. To not get caught you have to just change the layout of the page. It was easy to nail cheaters whose plots lined up exactly. But one particular group of geniuses copied from their friend who can't spell. Al three turned in an isometric drawing with the label 'FROUNT'.

Gravatar Actually on TWoP, the original poster says he found the photos on Elle's website along with some Getty photos--in some of them you can see Nina Garcia alongside the runway! Although I don't fault her for not recognizing the sketches--she's probably seen 1000 looks each fashion week.

My question: do the 3 designers that Keith copied all show in the same fashion week? I thought Lacoste did Paris? Just wondering...

Gravatar I wonder if Keith is expected to sketch on the show. What will he do?

Gravatar No, Project Runway never checked with Wyeth. Keith NEVER co-designed or collaborated on Wyeth.

Gravatar hey guys-
love your site and i read it often. so when i read the latest comments about me i thought it might be time to write in. for the record, i submitted 5 portfolios for the judges review. the one you seem to be focusing on was a research assignment i did for a client in which i reviewed key fashion trends. i'm very proud of all the work that i do. the panel of judges that reviewed my work had many years of experience behind them. i found them neither ignorant, uninformed or in any way confused about their own profession.

Gravatar I have seen many "trend reports", and none of them include taking somebody elses's image or design, and changing it. In real trend reports, the real image is shown and designers/photographers/and year/season is credited. People/clients want to know where the trend is coming from. Anybody in the fashion or any other design business knows this.

So what you are saying is just hard to believe.

Gravatar Oh, oh... Jumping to conclusions based upon scant evidence is not good. It appears that Keith Michael is not the villain of this piece and is, in all probability, not the designer booted off PR. Beware the pack mentality.

Gravatar I'm assuming with 5 portfolios, there had to be other sketches Bravo could have used to show your work history, right? If Bravo knew that these were traced sketches from other designers for a trend report, why would they use it as your work?

Gravatar So ... the sketch photos are screencaps. I don't think we've seen any KM sketches other than these. I wonder why PR is only featuring these particular drawings on the show. It seems like the images in question were being presented by PR as KM's original designs.

Thanks for responding, Keith!

Gravatar It's not too improbable that the people editing the footage were not as knowledgeable as to which portfolios represented original work and which ones were "fashion trends". After all, editing is their area of expertise, not fashion. For all we know, they got better shots of these particular sketches, or something else made them choose these, without realizing that these were not original. I don't know enough about fashion OR the editing process to judge, but I'm willing to keep an open mind, at least for now.

Gravatar Nanette--I don't think Bravo would have added Keith on purpose for scandal--the show would lose so much integrity, especially since it is such an amazing launching pad for designers, and as mentioned before--many who auditioned had to take alot of time and money to do so.

IF Keith is asked to leave--I just feel bad for anyone that lost the chance to be a part of the show, and a different designer could have had that first win.

Gravatar Don't mean to sound so jaded and cynical, but it seems strange that the whole Keith thing was so easily discovered. Granted, I didn't discover it. Heck, I even went on record, before the airing of the first episode as saying that I liked him. Could this possibly be a set-up of sorts by BRAVO? Or, better yet, could this scandal be the wrong scandal?

Gravatar Sorry for another post, but I just wanted to add that if Bravo HAD detected something underhanded, like plagiarism, and reprimanded Keith or threw him off the show, surely at present he's aware of it and is expecting it in the next episode or two. In that case, it seems reasonable that he would wait for that episode before pounding his chest and proclaiming his innocence. The fact that he's writing now indicates that he's not expecting anything of the sort to come in the episodes, and therefore the whole scandal/villainy/"we're going to have to ask you to leave" comes from somewhere else. I read the tone of his email as just clearing up a misunderstanding that has no bearing on the course of the show.

Gravatar well, its possible that they didnt discover it, we did, and Keith is in the final 3 and trying to protect his position... who knows? its all speculation at this point... I am willing to wait and see..

Gravatar Or, it's possible they did recognize the work and featured it with the hopes of people comparing the drawings to the originals and making a big fuss. Big internet buzz. Free.

Gravatar Anna: how do you know Keith never worked for Wyeth? Just wondering.

Gravatar My little lightbulb just went on-- I just e-mailed you guys about this, and right after clicking send I thought, "Wait, maybe THAT'S what that Keith post was about...!"

D'oh ;D

Gravatar jen...what r u talking about?

Gravatar WOW...BeePeRs have gotten a lot harsher since Season 2. I thought I was on the Bravo boards for a sec.

Gravatar Keith's a real talent, his work has style and a clean, urban look with the finesse finish of fine tailoring. I hope he makes it to the final 3. He appears intense, alert and no fool. I'm keen to see what does indeed happen.

Gravatar i just noticed that on the BRAVO site his profile pics are inactive as in not there...missing...
(shades of suvivor and lost spoiler/scandal hints? or too many hits to the bandwidth?) all the other designer's profile pics work but his is just one blue inoperative square and nada!
~ odd? or oddly interesting?
let the conspiracy theories begin!

see for yourself....

Gravatar sorry peeps...either it was a glitch on their site or they fixed it right away (i still think the bandwidth theory fits best!) but his glorious [erm] visage is back up and running...feast your eyes, michael fans!

Gravatar I just finished watching the long awaited episode. Well, this PR is certainly not short on drama. Keith's true colors showed up and Angela redeemed herself. Amazing and very interesting, NOW IT IS HARD TO FIGURE WHAT COMES NEXT!

Gravatar i have never seen this page in my life but i have got to say..keith is HOT!

wow.
