I think you find more conservative teachers in smaller towns and in the south. I know many if not most of the teachers I teach with would consider themselves conservative. Many are also members of Elephant Educators, a group for Republican NEA members. (Yes, there is such a group).

Oh, the poor little conservative baby is going to be a minority.
Well, when you hold minority views, you're a minority. That's just the nature of the world and someone should tell this whiner the facts of life.

I am definitely a liberal, but I would agree that students should be exposed to intellectual diversity. Maybe not just students--it's good for everyone!
Seeing all sides helps one become a better thinker and can reaffirm one's own convictions.
Mrs. Bluebird makes a good point about where to find majorities of conservatives. Many of our neighbors in Idaho and Utah are conservative.

Yeah, the only non-Republican teacher at my old high school was incredibly pragmatic, but tended towards libertarianism, with a stronger emphasis on civil liberties than free markets. He supported capitalism, but felt that civil liberties were a more important issue than open markets.
Oh, and if Palin doesn't like people talking about her children, she should stop using them as campaign props.
