You're welcome to play but play nice!

Gravatar That's a great idea to ask the students what they think about what's going on in the classroom. It should make them feel a part of the teaching process.

They probably respect you for it.

Gravatar I think I will have my students do that writing prompt, but for first semester since I have only been with them for three weeks.

Do you think your standards are not high? I know I tend to have very high standards. Maybe they need more higher-level questioning? I can send over my higher-level thinking and questioning strategies through Interact, if you like?

Otherwise, I agree - hearing those words "You make me like English" are always good words to reinforce why you teach!

Gravatar I know my standards are high. I am doing The Yellow Wallpaper in two classes and I have higher level questions in them. I think it's the fact they did not get much homework (the smart ones did it in class!) this quarter. I'll add a bit more of it in. Hope the video is a hit tomorrow.

Gravatar Comments like that are a real treasure. It's so cool when they happen.

Gravatar It makes up for the id10t this morning that's for sure!

Gravatar I normally will not assign much homework because I will not see it returned the next day.

Gravatar Excellent compliment!

Gravatar Those comments are the ones that keep me going.

Gravatar Vegas,
This class is easy can mean a myriad of things. I tend to think a good teacher makes a class seem easier than a bad one. When a kid says you explain things well that's their way of saying you're a good teacher. After all, we explain things so people can understand them. Isn't that teaching? As I always tell my kids, that's why I get the big money. Good luck in second quarter.

Gravatar L&O thanks for the comments. Nice to know someone makes BIG money in teaching!
